    Hi all,
I have been having an ongoing problem with my 2004 2.5tdi cabrio. It started as an intermittent problem, but has recently got worse. The fuel and temperature gauges misread or stop working altogether. This is accompanied by the display showing low washer level and fuel level alternately. Sometimes the engine light comes on with it. The outside temp display also goes into freefall to - 30. The problem seems to get much worse during hot weather. The dials and outside temp under reading during cold weather.

The dash pod has been to bba reman twice, and they are saying having checked and repaired it, there is nothing wrong with the pod.
Currently the fault has stayed, the fuel/temp dials not working at all the last 3 days.

When the faults were read, all it said was check temp sensor, check fuel gauge sensor etc. The vag specialist workshop I have been using have now said im best going to audi. Or a good auto electrician.
Just wondered if anyone has any experience of similar, or knows of the link between the faults? When the outside temp reading drops this also stops the aircon from working. I am getting really fed up of it now, and am stumped as what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

With so many faults in would be inclined to check the grounding points - maybe one is loose, damaged or has some corrosion

Thanks for your reply. I guess the auto electrician might be a good route to follow. I did wonder if it could be a bad earth. The workshop said it could be a dash out job but didn't sound confident. I may have to find another specialist. The guy had a look through the wiring digrams but didn't get very far.
I just wondered if anyone on here had come across this before.

    Thanks,

A competent auto electrician should be able to remove the dash pod and at least check the connectors and wires for any leaks or shorts - This skill set is something that is not make or model dependant

Hi A6_Chris. The car has been on a couple of fault computers, it only came up with check temp sensor, fuel level sensor outside temp sensor. I am away from the car for a couple of days, the garage did write the faults down and the piece of paper is in the car
Will dig it out when I get to the car

    Thanks

With that many faults my bet is still on a bad ground point, faulty/loose connector or damaged wire

I don't suppose the garage tested the cluster or tried another one?
