    all advice welcome - ive recently paid a deposit on a 1.4 tsi gt (2008) soon to be picked up i am now reading with some alarm that they have timing chain issues and could prove costly
    has anybody had first hand experience with such an isue

    Its sadly an absolute nightmare on the early TSIs and can be expensive to put right. If you have any of the symptoms best to get it looked at soon rather than leave it too late and destroy the engine.
