    S is the base model, no frilly bits.
    SE is the next one up. More refined than Sport model & less extras.
    Sport...allot of standard extra, alloys, climate etc... Suspension is harder than SE, seats are more supportive, internal trim is flasher...etc,etc...

    Hi,

    So which one would you say would be the better of the 3. Basically the sport has everything the se has and a little more would that be correct.

    I prefer the Sport model. The SE is really nice motor, I think even more comfortable than the Sport. No Alloys, Climate Control was an optional extra...not sure on newer models

    Personally I would sum it up thus (comparing a 2004 130PD SE to a 2003 Sport 130PD;

    If you like a soft ride at the expense of sharper handling I would buy an SE.

    The SE I owned had climate, 5 speed box and a gamma HU and 6 disc changer

    My Sport has larger wheels (16" instead of 15"),lowered and stiffened suspension, climate, 6 speed box, gamma and 6 disc changer.

    I would add that even the Sport model (in standard form) isn't going to rock your world handling wise if you are coming from a Peugeot 406 etc. but body roll is contained and the ride isn't as choppy as an SE.

    Having owned both, I wouldn't buy another SE if an equivalently spec'd Sport stood next to it.

    Ok in short, if you had a 1999 0r 2000 passat 110 se model sitting beside a sport model with basically the same toys which would you go for, im contemplating a sport instead of an se but if i bought an se and lowered it by 35mm or the closest to it and added some nice wheels 18" would i basically have a passat close to a sport handling wise. Not sure which to go for.

    If you are prepared to do the lowering and add bigger wheels then there will be very little difference.

    Add a rear anti-roll bar and you go a little bit farther.

    Mine is a '99 125BPH SE saloon with 18'' alloys + climate control and I think it handles very well. Am planning to put the roll bar at some stage.
