I'm posting this same question in the Golf, Passat and ICE parts of the forum in the hope that someone spots it and knows the answer. So Mods, please bear with me and forget my posting profligacy.................

My Golf has a Nokia Bluetooth kit that I fitted yonks ago. To make it look better, I stripped the innards from the microphone and hid them inside the standard fit VW microphone location, in front of the interior light. The voice quality is pants. Wary that this might happen and I might need to swap, I fitted it on a trailing lead with a 3.5mm plug & socket so that I wouldn't have to re-thread cable if I wanted to swap. That time has come.

For all of it's shortcomings, the Premium Bluetooth Kit I had in my Passat never caused complaints about voice quality. Does anyone know the part number for the original microphone, or indeed, the microphone for any VW kit?

If anyone has a drawing , that would be the icing on the cake.

If it's a 3.5mm jack plug Sony mic's are pretty good.

So are Parrot, I've even found a how-to guide for dismantling the Parrot mic and fitting it in the overhead console. But I want to try the OEM.

Many thanks for that gupsterg. But the link goes to an Amazon page with cargo rails for a jeep. I'm pleased someone else sometimes gets cursed with the perils of copy and past of a web address.

Could you re-post the info please?

Thats SkimLinks - totally normal. Helps keep the forum free to use.

If you hover over the link it will say it was added by SkimLinks.

Err, okay, I'm all for the forum being well funded, but how does Gupsterg tell me what I need to know?

Just as a passing thought ......... it's pretty inefficient software, the chances of someone on a VW forum wanting to buy cargo bars for a Jeep are pretty slim.

I'm not being thick here. Well, not deliberately and certainly no more than normal for this time in the morning. Please help me be less befuddled.

Did Gupterg get SkimLinked on his own PC, in which case I just need to ask him to re-post the correct link? Or was it done on the forum, in order to generate a few tenths of a penny of revenue, in which case I need to PM him and ask him to e-mail the link to me or to type out the part numbers long hand?

If it was trying to sell me broadband, or VW servicing, or even a new phone I could understand the business model and see how they make money. But a link to an Amazon listing for cargo bars to fit a Jeep? Even worse, a product with a poor seller feedback for sending a half empty box? It's so crazy, it's surreal.

He didn't post a link, it's done automatically by the forum randomly when you post.

More than likely he will copy and paste the part number.
