    Hi All,

Happily today found out about the availability of the audi swirl flap fixing kit and have two on order from Audi (at the massive cost of £18 or so all in...). Bit of an improvement on the £600 or more per side!

I've had a look at a how to on youtube where the guy seems to be able to swap the lower linkage and bar all without taking the manifold out completely. I'm very impressed with his skills, but can't help wondering if it's actually that easy?

The reason I'm asking is in a couple of days I'm heading over to Belgium so would like to sort this, but I'm worried about whether I'm going to be able to do it without taking it all apart.

    Whats the general opinion?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Great thanks!

I had found this but given the only chance I'm likely to be able to look at this before I go to Belgium (in this car) is after work this week (leaving for holiday very early Saturday morning), I didn't really want to take it apart. Hence why I quite liked the idea of not having to.

I'll cogitate and decide.... I've read in a couple of places that often just replacing the arm has fixed the issue, so I might just try that short term and do the full fix on my return home.

    Appreciate the response ;-)

Others have managed without too much dismantling (someone has potsed in the last week or two about doing it). This is just the arm replacement 0 the kit from Audi is about £8 per side I think. One side is a bit of a struggle (getting a lower securing clip off)but he managed. Anyway it doesn't matter if you go with the "failed" flaps. All that happens when the wrong rotation is sensed on start-up is that flaps "fail open" - so you don't get the swirl effect. I drove mine for a month like that, and noticed no effects (ill or otherwise) in that time.

Hello, I have a 57 plate 2.7tdi A6 Avant Le Mans. EML has been on for about 3 years with error code P3135. Performance unaffected. I bought the repair kit from Audi and had it fitted by my garage about 18 months ago. The EML came back on with same error code after about 4 weeks and 400 miles. So it was just a temporary fix for me ...

However, there is another, relatively inexpensive solution. Instead of getting new manifolds or mapping out the flaps you could try fitting "emulators" from Avtoelektronika in Slovenia (yes!!). See YouTube video:-

I had a pair sent and they were fitted last week. Did the job perfectly. They cost about £140 the pair. A lot cheaper then new manifolds or the cost of fitting a kit from Darkside.
