I've got a VW Bury touch phone car kit fitted and the control box started playing up. If you tapped it with a blunt instrument it would work for a while and then go off. Bought another unit off a well known auction site and this powers up but I'm getting an error "wrong display".
    Control unit is number
    000.051.473.C and screen is 000.051.473.A
Is this because they are different numbers, and if so can I update them to make them compatible, or if I buy a new screen with same number as control unit should they work ?

    Thanks in advance.

    It's the VW factory fit.
Been in touch with Bury hot line and they advised me to take control box and screen to VW dealer who would then send it to them. Sounds expensive to me.

I have this model too, if you have changed the Bluetooth module under the seat you will find that some modules work with only 1 display type, I.E the all red display or the all white display and some work with both types, try this link which will explain which modules do what..Telephone Retrofitting - Ross-Tech Wiki

I've not changed the module under the seat just the small black plastic box, number 000.051.473.C
My original box had the number 000.051.473.A which matches the screen.

Small black plastic thing. Mine is situated under gear gaiter. Wires from mic and media plug into it along with screen and power.
Hope that makes it clearer. Sorry for the confusion.

maybe you need to reset the Bluetooth module to update the change of adaptor, just unplug the Bluetooth module and then plug it back in to reset, or maybe reset the radio unit/sat nav to take up the adaptor change.

    Hi John.
Partly sorted most of the time. Had to fit a "C" screen as well. Managed to pick a freebie up so that was a good result.
It sometimes drops connection but most of the time works ok.
    Best of luck.
