Have the lovely (!) task of preparing a little Fiat Panda belonging to my SIL for sale.

Got rid of all the green slime (the car was a second car and spent 5/7 days stationary.) in the door shuts, have dressed the inner wheel arches and replaced a few bits and bobs.

So round to the engine bay, 6 years old and 37,000 miles worth of dirt in here.

Any tips on what to use? Doesn't have to be spotless, just presentable.

    TIA.

And yes, theres an engine in there somewhere!!

CG new look trim gel if you've already got some, or any decent tyre shine product.

Failing that, CG barebones is designed for this very purpose.

Suggesting CG because it's cheap and it works ;-)

Edit a quick wipe before dressing with a degreaser or APC wouldn't hurt.

I have a bottle of PB Natural Look I was going to try but will have a nose at the CG.

Have the days of powerwashing engine bays gone?

Would the barebones work on the black plastic bumpers too? Doesn't have to be a long term thing, just something to make it look nice until I get it out of my garage.

Edit - I have some Autosmart G101, will tackle it with that if that suits better?

I wouldn't have thought PB Natural look would be much good in the engine bay.

I've never been a fan of pressure washing engine bays, I don't care what anybody says - water finds its way into places it shouldn't and it's just a risk I refuse to take.

I'd use the autosmart APC to clean it first, then give it a going over with a dressing, I only recommend barebones because it's well suited to the application, it's cheap and it's what I've used.

Bumpers - new look trim gel is good for restoring black plastics, it's pretty hardy too. If you've not got any, smooth peanut butter applied and removed like a wax will work well.

If you're using CYC - I highly recommend this stuff for the tyres too - FinishKare - 108AS Top Kote Tire Dressing - Clean Your Car - amazingly hardy for a dry finish spray.

I forgot to mention - you'll need spray heads too , more for the tyre dressing than the barebones, sorry Chris!
