So for all my car life, I've either had bangers or a lease car from work, so they've either been too cheap to detail or not mine and given what my company thinks of us, not worth the effort.

But since my 08 A6 Le Mans I'm feeling guilty about just doing a basic wash job and wax job.

So with Tesco's 18 month interest free card in hand and burning a hole in my pocket I thought I'd give my car some decent TLC. I'm not going completely mad since I'm so new to this, but here's what I'm getting. Got two weeks off at the start of August so will set aside a day for all this lol.

1st off was a good pressure washer. Was going to go for this

    http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber =021534
A stonking price but went for this instead as it's better longer lasting and quieter

Nilfisk E120.1-8 X-tra Pressure Washer & Home Pressure Washer Kit - Nilfisk Domestic Pressure Washers - CleanStore
Nilfisk Click and Clean Auto Nozzle - Nilfisk Domestic Pressure Washer Accessories - CleanStore

Wanted the drain cleaner anyway and so adding that to the C-130 from Homebase was just £20 cheaper. Also got the car nozzle as read the std ones are bit harsh. A Kranzle is a little OTT lol. I was going to got for a K5 Karcher or something like that, but thought it's only going to be used on two cars and not much else so thought £300+ was a bit much. Also, the other big yellow brand (DeWALT) is highly overrated until the big bucks which is the same I heard about cheaper Karchers.

    Snow foam lance

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=326
Snow foam agent. Again heard good things about this and the dilute ratio seems to make this good value?

    http://www.bilthamber.com/clay-bars/auto-clay-regular
Clay Bar. She's in desperate need of a clay bar and the appeal of "just add water" was something i wanted since I'm buying everything in one go, so saving buying another product was fine by me

Going to finish a big bottle of AutoGlym Shampoo before buying anything else

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=337
Polish. Got this as my polish as it seems decent, easy to use and apparently a little goes a looong way

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=177
Applicator pads. Two for nearly the price of two of clean your car's own brand so may as well keep with the Meguiars brand!

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=282
    Lambs wool mit. Meguiars

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=883
Micro fibre cloth. Got a big luminous yellow pack from Costco which are great but could be a bit rough for paintwork. Meguiars

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=328
Interior cleaner. Wanted a matt finish this seemed OK.

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/meguiars-high-gloss-tyre-gel/prod_103.html?added=103
Tyre gloss. Have some Autoglym alloy cleaner left and the hubs are in pretty good nick, aside from some scrapes......from potholes NOT my parking!!!

Have already got the two buckets etc from any washing I've done until now on the A6.

So again, this is just me starting out and using up any left over products I've got lying around. Anyone have any tips with what i got so far?

I dunno if Meguiars is worth the money or not or other more expensive products last longer or are better. I won't be going to the big extreme end of detailing, so is this enough to be enough for me at this stage?

    Oh and will post pics

    EDIT.

Forgot I'd possibly need to decontaminate before claying?

Yes but from what I've bought I can do the same job over and over again without any more outlay. I'll make my money back by in 6-9 months time?

Having done the clean I felt very proud and enjoyed doing it. Found claying to be great, being able to feel the clay getting all that cack off my paint!I ain't paying someone else to feel that good lol.

No photo's as it got pretty dull at the end and flat batteries in my DSLR so will take some more at the next clean in brighter weather.

So nah, I'll do it myself and now only have to replenish stock once in a while.

I wish you all the best.
May I recommend Bilt hamber clay bar, I have used this for years, no need to buy expensive lubricant, just use plain water. Bilt Hamber Auto/Car Clay Bar SOFT 200g Detailing Brake Dust Tree Sap Van | eBay
