    Hi

I am a bit confused by the operation of the parking sensors in the Touran (2010).

The sensors are activated, it seems, by putting the car in reverse, OR by pressing the parking sensor button.

If I put the car in reverse, I get a display that shows a car schematic picture, showing two seats at top of display and three at bottom. You would think this indicates that the front of the car is at the top and the back at the bottom, BUT the word BACK is also shown at the top of the display, and where there is a wall in front of the car, it is the sensors at the BOTTOM of the display that are shown sensing it!

This seems counter-intuitive in that the picture shows the front at top and that is also what you would expect.

If I put the car in 1st gear, and press the parking sensor button,

then I get a nice full-screen picture of the car, which although sideways, does show the object (wall) as being at the front of the car (i.e. at the end of the display where the two seats are shown).

This is a much nicer display but even with the button pressed as soon as I put it in reverse it goes back to the small back-to-front display.

Is there any way to stop this and just have the full-screen schematic?

Is the behaviour above the normal, designed, behaviour?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi there.
It looks like your car has had an aftermarket stereo fitted. The screen displays you've attached don't look anything like what would be shown on any original VW unit I've seen.
If you can find out who manufactures the unit, you could check their website for an operating manual that will explain how the unit works and how to change the settings.
Could you attach a photo showing the full stereo rather than just the screen. That will help identify what has fitted.

    Regards.

    Jim.

    Hi Jim

It is a Veyron VW-VNS. Still, I would expect the display right eay up! Veyron have not responded to my query, nor has their distributor.

    thanks
    Nick
