    Audi A3 2.0 TDI 55 plate - 71k

Having just spent £420 replacing cambelt, waterpump, Aux belt and service, the car has developed an annoying clicking/tapping noise. I asked my wife to pop in to the garage and ask why it has suddenly started making a noise that wasn't present before they had it. They believe it is coming from the A/C compressor and the type of work they did would not impact on the compressor.

With A/C on 'auto' the noise is just a chatter/click. It is annoying and noticeable. With A/C off, the noise becomes noticeably worse. The actual air con is working fine but it can be heard from inside and outside the car.

I spoke with Audi parts and they have A/C clutch fixing kits but they believe my car is too new and won't have the compressor installed that the fix kit is for. The other option is a new compressor at £550 + my old one.

Does anyone have any fault finding tips to narrow the cause down, or am I looking at taking a hit and replacing the compressor? I haven't got the money to pay Audi prices having just spend the 400 + last week. I also have a whistling turbo leak from somewhere!

Also, I am based in North Yorkshire so if anyone knows of a good A/C technician that would be handy?

    Thanks for reading
