    Hi all,

Trying to help a friend out with his MK4 Golf 1.8T Registration is (v).

Basically he lost power the car was shaking and it ticks, my first thought was one of the coils had gone. We did the coil check to see which one wasn't firing while the car was on and sure enough coil 3 did not react when I unplugged it.

This got changed however the car is still the same and I thought it could be the spark plug on that chamber. When I went to remove the spark plug I found it very loose and it had oil round it so I thought bingo, however I replaced it with a new spark plug and nothing changed.

My VCDS shows something up as:

01262 - Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)
    26-00 - Output Open

My friend who works for VW RAC said that this shouldn't have issues with the cars misfiring or loss of power as it is associated with the turbo. However I have also read on other forums that this could cause loss of power problems too. so a little confused.

There are three routes here I think that could lead to fixing the problem

    • Faulty lead
    • The injector
    • Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control

Any one that could point me in the right direction? it would be much appreciated.
