    Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked here before, It's just that I'm getting a lot of conflicting information.

I wanted to ask if bluetooth could be retrofitted into my car. The car I want it retrofitted onto is a 09 1.4 TSI Golf, I have the RCD 510 and the midline DIS (looking online some sites have said that the midline DIS is not compatible with bluetooth), and if so what model of Bluetooth could I retrofit?

One of the bluetooth kits I've been looking at has the code: 7P6 035 730 B, I asked the seller if this could be retrofitted into my car and was told no? I'm not too sure why this is the case.

Another one I'm looking at is the : 5K0 035 730 B, I sent a message to the seller but havent got a reply yet.

Could anyone please tell me which one of these 2 models is more suitable to my car and what the differences are? Also I was wondering what kind of coding would be required to retrofit either one of these?

    Thanks.

get yourself the 7P6/B - its a 'HIGH'

    Telephone Retrofitting - Ross-Tech Wiki

retrofitting is simple - i've done it in my mk6 - have you got a picture of your clocks?

i bought the module seperate from ebay and then a 'fitting kit' from carsystems.pl for £70 which included all the wiring and the foam insert (i ended up not using the foam insert if you want it for postage)

the coding thats necessary is to tick telephone in the CAN gateway to tell the car that you have a telephone module installed and IIRC also in the 'radio'/'media' module to select telephone (if you've got VAGCOM its pretty intuitive - just scroll through the long coding for the relevant modules -if you see anywhere it says telephone fitted - tick it! there are guides somewhere)

    and thats it!

    i fitted a 7P6/L module to mine

Thanks for the reply! I'm not too sure if i could retrofit it myself as im not great with cars haha. Is the foam insert needed for the installation as the kit im getting includes all wiring and such but not the foam insert.

Is there a difference between the 7P6/L or the 7P6/B?

And I assume by clocks you mean the speedometer, mine looks like the one on the left.

I thiiink they're just superseded parts
You don't need the foam insert at all, just depends where you want to locate the module (its surprisingly big!) I would get the 7P6 over the 5K0 module though

If yours are like the ones on the left then Im a little unsure how it would work... As you would much rather have the high line for the menu etc.

I take it your car doesn't have a multi function steering wheel?

No, unfortunately dont have the MFSW or the Highline DIS, which is what im really worried about haha. Dont want to spend the 200£ or so for it to end up not even functioning on my car.

Can you control the whole bluetooth kit with just the RCD510?

aah that is a bit of a let down

my best recommendation would be the Parrot MKi9200 kit - i've fitted one to my brothers A4 and Honda Accord - absolutely flawless and simple to use

you get a little screen and seperate little control for it. and its a doddle to fit - plumb in the wiring behind the RCD510 - run one wire for where you want the screen, run the bundle of wires for the USB/aux in and iphone in into the glovebox and thats it!

you MAY be able to control the entire lot with just the RCD510 however i'm quite sure you need the Highline DIS to make the pairing...

Remember you can still control your Phonebook from your phone etc but obviously doing this isn't the point of 'hands free' lol

If there's a phone button or similar on the RNS you should be able to control everything from there too.

Apples, can you unpair your phone and try and reconnect wih the ignition ON and search for the car from your phone and see if it works?

Well, I managed to get a 5K0-035-730-B for quite cheap on ebay, and looking at the list it is a 'high' as well, so quite happy with that.

My RCD510 does have a Phone button and from what I understand it will pair if the ignition is in the 'ON' area.

All I need to find now is a fitting kit and foam insert. Would this Bluetooth Installation KIT Plug&Play for 7P6 and 5K0 Module + Foam Cover be suitable for it?

Now all I need to find is someone that can install it. Hopefully wont be too expensive, cant be spending too much on an experiment

Installation isn't hard, you'll just need someone with vcds to enable/code it.

I chose to ziptie the control module to the radio/heater controls cage behind the heater controls - it fits almost perfectly

saved me a lot of hassle of wiring it all in and saves time if removing and/or troubleshooting etc. this is why i have the foam insert spare!

as long as its secure so it doesn't rattle you should be ok!
