Hi all, taken delivery of my fiance's A1 black edition in Daytona Grey earlier today.
She does a fair amount of miles so was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction. Should I clay it? I then plan to use AutoGlym SRP and the. HIgh Definition wax. Any suggestions for alternatives or any other ideas?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373322378.332927.jpg

Have a look in the show and shine section and you'll see what I use.

Get into the habit of using the 2 bucket method, prewash (snowfoam) then your normal wash with a lambswool mitt, dry using a microfibre drying cloth and then onto your protection.

First you'll need to decontaminate so get iron remover such as IronX or Iron Cleanse. Cover the whole car including the wheels.

Next up would be your de-tar, again something like AG intensive tar remover I've found works well.

Polish - I have a 1/3rd of a bottle of AG SRP left, I'll be researching on what to get next as I believe SRP is full of fillers which hide swirls for a period of time.

Wax I use Collinite 476s, this is a durable long lasting wax and 2 coats lasts up to 6 months but I usually apply a thin layer when time allows after washing the car.

As I said have a look in the Show and Shine section here - Show 'n' Shine - Post your efforts here and see what everyone is using.

I'm no pro detailer, far from it but I think what I use does the job!

    Thanks Chris,

So does the Iron Remover do the same job as, say for instance Maguirs clay?

I had a quick look through the Show 'n' Shine section but can't see anything Daytona Grey specific, will look again in more detail.

The car definitely needs doing as the Mrs. came home from work this morning and the sun is glaring, the bonnet is completley covered in swirls from where the dealership have used a dirty rag to clean it prior to us collecting it, not happy to say the least!! (I'm guessing the AG SRP will sort this out??)

It doesnt have to be colour specific mate. Detailing a red car is the same as doing Daytona Grey. From previous experience I would take the car back to the dealers and get them to rectify. My mate did this with a new RS5 he bought. The paintwork was shocking when he picked it up and rightly refused to collect it.........he then arranged for TLC Detailing (Stirling) to go in over a week period and detailed the RS to an amazing finish and the garage picked up the bill for it.......all I can say is....it wasn't cheap.
