Would that I could a8 tech but I only have the unregistered version "409" of Vag Com. I used this software to discover why I sometimes have a problem starting the car and why the engine warning light occasionally comes on.

When it fails to start I turn off the ignition, wait for about a minute turn the key again it usually starts. (this is when the engine warning light sometimes appears) Once started the car runs perfectly for weeks/months before the problem occurs again.

Is there any other way to test the sensor.

    Thanks guys

I've only just got my hands on VAG-COM so I'm not sure if both faults log at the same time.. but don't go away a8 tech I'll be checking on a daily basis. Directly I have the answer I'll get back to you. (is that possible or have I to wait until you spot my posting)

Ok iam trying to establish what is going on,as they may be related from low cranking voltage and have no relevants to your actual issue. If you had a fault with n205 there would be a reduction in power at about 2500 rpm as the valve timing wouldnt advance the variable valve timing. If the engine fails to start there is a reduction in oil pressure which n205 requires as this is how it alters the valve timing by appling tension to the chain tensioner. The terminal 30 low voltage also relates to extended cranking and voltage drop hence fault stored,so what iam saying is these codes are related but not the source.
