Hi guys someone i met recently has been well and truely tucked up on a recent purchase of the above car. Bought for a large some of money "sold as seen" driven for 60 miles before the oil pressure problem reared its head. On getting to my yard to sort that it developed a gearbox fault.
Sump and rocker and as much as possible has been cleaned strainer changed and oil changed and i've recommended him not to follow the longlife service plan he has been on- fault repaired.
Gearbox problem - full hard fault display solid prnds and flahing occured on test drive after oil pressure probs were resolved. I noticed when changing gears that i put it into S and back to D display stayed in S. Move to manual gear selection display changed back to drive stayed in manual. Then lost all drive as i tried to shift neutral and back to drive as that had sorted the sticking display before. Eventually after rolling to a stop gearbox selected drive and allowed me to limp back to the workshop.

Any ideas and tips done a bit of digging this is a cvt 2 wheel drive model with internal gearbox ecu by the looks of things.

Ross tech wiki only give code description for the second code by the looks of things.

Strangley the fault rectified itself temporarily with out cycling the ingition i was sat in the car engine running when suddenly display returned to normal and selector was selecting and displaying gearbox correctly. Drove another 3 miles fine going to test drive again shortly.

Anyone have any thoughts before i go heading off in the wrong direction.

Seems everyone is wary of saying this looks like the Multitronic saga again.Afraid I have no expertise but as an owner of the tiptronic auto I have sadly noticed a lot of posts about these faults.Has it had the vital ATF changes?

Spoke to an auto gearbox specialist who said both codes relate to components of the gearbox ecu which will need removing and replacing going to see if its repairable if it comes to that but for now he's gonna have a little drive around in his new car and see how often the fault occurs.

Hi mikeybutch the vehicle has full audi service history which is funny considering the state of the engine.
If its gets the ecu taken out it will have a gear oil change at the same time i would imagine as you have to open the gearbox to get the ecu out - oil leaks out apparently
    .
Just have to see how he gets on might be some more updates to this thread yet

Hope you get it fixed.Another common issue is the risk of longlife servicing

If it re-occurs then let me know, i have a low mileage 1.8T with CVT multitronic box which i will be breaking for parts, the engine and gearbox are very good, however the turbo (reconditioned unit with 5000 miles only) has started playing up and it leaks from intake seals... Sadly the car is tatty on the outside so it does not make sense to repair- broke tidier motors than that in the past ! Let me know if you need anything, just need to make my money back somehow !
