    Hi,

can anyone help me to properly adjust the dipped beam on a xenon healight with manual level adjustment (retrofitted). It seems to me that the headlights are not properly installed, so before I remove the bumper to install them (as per instructions from ElsaWin), I need to know one thing (right-hand traffic):

Each of the headlights contain an "edge" on the dipped beam light line. I assume that it exists in order for us to have a better vision of the part of the road which is in our direction (and not the opposite direction, so we do not blind the cars from it). I also assume that edges from both headlights should overlap. What i do not know is where the headlight edge should start "growing up". This is a lateral adjustment of the headlight (not vertical), which is done through one of the two white plastic screws on the headlight (the other one is for vertical).

So, where should this edge start up? I have marked with "x" some of the possible scenarios, to give you a better understanding of what I am asking.

    Thanks.

Take them to a garage, should cost about €10 to correctly align for you.

In my case, it will cost much more, since headlights need to be aligned correctly first - they are currently positioned in a way that using lateral adjustment screws you cannot bring headlights to overlap (they throw beam toward the outside of the road). This means removing the bumper, setting the 3 adjuster nuts correctly, setting the correct gaps between the headlight and bumper / wing panel, and that is at least two hours of work. No service here will do that for 10e.

What I need to do first is make sure that headlights can be set with the adjustment screws, before I go to the garage that have adequate equipment to set adjust the beam.

Have you seen the alignment diagram in ElsaWin
Headlights: checking settings and adjusting if necessary.

I have seen it for the halogen headlight only (section 94), but I could not find for the xenon headlights. THe instructions in ElsaWin include headlight adjustment unit, which I do not have, and I need to go to garage for that part. But before I do, I would like to set an approximate lateral position of the headlights, so I asked this question. I thought that anyone having xenon headlights could check this on their car...

You will also have to have headlight washers and automatic light alignment on the suspension front and rear.

That is another issue, not related to headlight lateral alignment.

My dipped beam looks to be in line with outside edge of car, so would be as your sketch (but mine is RHD so mirror image to sketch)

    Hope this helps.
