No, I'm not joking, it exists.

LMFAO. £101 plus loose change for a tub of grease.

Oh, and they can't book the car in until the 25th July 2013 for the service, the squeak repair, the notchy steering update & looking into the naughty sunroof/windows not opening that time off the keyfobs.

They're going to call me back to see if they can organise a better time, what with me being in France then.

    Sunroof service...ha.

    ! Blimey. That's a new one.

So is that part of the official service schedule for sunroof equipped cars then?

Or is it just a set of fixes and procedures that they have to fix with sunroofs so often - it's become it's own standardised book price.

How often does it need done. I have / have had decade old cars that have never had the sunroofs serviced. Either I'm fortunate that I've survived in what must be deathtraps horribly neglected by my lack of maintenance - or Audi can't build a sunroof properly in 2013. Glad I don't have one on the A6!

Scheduled apparently, and to answer your next question, it's based on mileage I think - of course, you'd want a sunroof serviced base on your mileage wouldn't you. It wouldn't make sense for it to be time based at all. I take some of that back if it is time based by the way.

Can anyone with a convertible confirm whether or not they charge extra for having no roof at all? That must be an even worse deathtrap surely.

IF they replace the bug stopper guard which is made of flimsy netting I'd feel less begrudged. I don't know if they do though.

Wonder what happens if you refuse to have it done.

What does the £101 cover ? there should be a itemised list of what this service includes. Seems very high to me just to clean the sunroof and apply grease to the runners.
MK6 Golf SE 1.6TDI 105bhp winter pack ,sunroof , full size alloy spare wheel, flat tyre indicator
Skoda Octavia II SE 1.9PD TDI

Absolutely no idea. I asked, I was told more or less what you just said. They just interject a great deal more words in between the words "clean" & "grease" to make it sound better.

Right. Car's going in tomorrow for our "free" service. I've checked with three different people at the dealership that I won't be asked to pay anything for this, including the "sunroof service" and they all agree even though the email from VWFS is ambiguous at best, it will cover everything apart from parts required outside of a normal service - brake pads etc. I'll be telling them not to touch anything at all that does cost us money, I'll get an indy to do it. I'm not giving Audi another penny.

It's having the passenger side squeak re-re-fixed again before we go on holiday next week, the software update (if they remember) for the steering, 18k service, ridiculous sunroof service and no hopefully this time not something hideous that means I end up threatening them with taking the courtesy car on the ferry then them buckling and managing to get it back in time even though it means them doing the 60 mile round trip and not me...speaking from experience.

If they mention the insurance excess, there will be blood. Oh, and I'm taking a witness with me in case it's my blood.

After the holiday, it's going on eBay.

Looks like it's a 2 dayer minimum. Given me an A4 SE saloon with no fuel. And despite me naming the tech who found the fault with the squeak and repaired it last time out (at the time I booked the car in and this morning when I dropped it off), they still gave it to someone new who - when I called this afternoon to see how things were progressing and to help decide whether or not to hang round in Bristol - was still out on a test drive to find the squeak. Give me strength.

I reminded them of the guy's name and they have put him in touch with the new bloke now, so fingers crossed it'll be done tomorrow. Look forward to a trip back down the M5 on a Friday afternoon in this weather, don't suppose anyone will have the same idea.

On the bright side, I noticed the HDD maps in the A4 now have the correct location for Bristol Audi, so therefore have been updated and after a quick call I believe they will be updating our HDD also.

Had a very loud screeching sound come from the rear of the car for about 200 yards earlier. If I were travelling anywhere other than an Audi garage I would have stopped and taken a look. Any ideas? Didn't seem to change as I sped up or slowed down.

Does exist on the previous gen of A6 as I have a sunroof, besides greasing the rails they clear the four drains on mine located in frame at each corner ...

IIRC it is part of the 20K / 2yrs service, don't know if included in service price or not ...
