Hey there guy's excuse my writing skill's first of all, Here's my problem i bought the car not so long back 2007 with 140k and it seemed to be running fine with very little smoking. But now the problem has got worse on tick over its chuffing smoke out smell's like unburnt fuel. So i took the car to vw who first of all said they must of damaged injector seal after recall and replace them under the parts warranty, but the problem still remain's constant smoke on tickover hot or cold and abit lumpy to start.... So i went back to vw and they are now saying its down to the dpf been clogged up. So a friend checked on the vag com under measuring blocks group 68 and it came up particle filter mass carbon mass 76.98 when the max should be 60 and on group 75 temp before turbo charger 1000 oC. i get the odd loss of power/surging now and then but i aint seen the dpf light come on or eml light. Could all this be down to the dpf ?

Also if it is the dpf would it be better going for the dpf delete and egr delete with remap to sort the problem all advice welcomed thanks guys jamie

It is odd that the dpf is not putting up a light or any codes. Is it possible someone has fiddled with the ecu file to hide a dpf problem? The cheapest solution may be to rip out the dpf insides and remap the ecu. The alternatives are, attempt to clean and reset yours or fit a new one. Get a vcds scan of all sensors, especially pressure sensor.

Use vcds and read the manual on ross-tech site. This gives loads of procedures, hints, help etc. You could try a forced regen, that's on ross-tech site too.

Are you sure this isn't a dying turbo, that will poke white smoke and smell bad also.

I had the misfire but only in summer months, non dpf car though, I think I've traced it to bad fuel from one garage although not confirmed yet, the garage sells ESSO which should be good fuel but it's on a Tesco site so who knows what they are selling.

So long as that is what it is I would get shot of it, the benefits are improved mpg although I'm a bit dubious to this claim myself, but the engine will breath better without the spud in the exhaust.
