A6 Avant 2.7TDi 2008 - Strange electrical happenings!

Hi

Over the course of the last month or so, my car has been behaving strangely.

- The dashboard "Check" button doesn't check anything - it just sets the max speed alert
- The aircon fan works only intermittently. Sometimes it starts when I turn the engine on, sometimes it's after 5 minutes, sometimes it's an hour! Tried manually adjusting etc, but no change
- The radio sometimes comes on without any button being pressed
- The rear wiper stops halfway round after turning on. Again, this is intermittent.

Stopping and turning the engine off then back on again does nothing.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Hi Mike,

I would start first of all with a fault code scan

If you look at the map in my forum signature, you should hopefully see someone near, tell me who and I can bring their attention to this thread.

I will try that tomorrow, but in the meantime, I took the rear cover off and wiggled the fuses and the battery connections around and it seems ok now. Time will tell, but at least the "check" button actually checks things now!

Firstly WELCOME TO VWAF! ...

These are only suggestions in the context of no scan log info ...

It could be either a fan/fan control module issue or water in the plenum chamber boxes causing it, view this video by RoyClark on access Link:- Plenum Chamber Access 001 - YouTube

As it is an Avant freaky MMI issues can be related to the rear washer pipework dousing the MMI rack in the boot behind trim on left with screenwash ...

On mine this was where screenwash had started to leak internally into motor causing havoc, on second occasion internals had rusted and seized due to screenwash exposure view this thread Link:- VW AUDI Forum - VWAF
