Hello everyone, I'm having some issues with my MMI system. Allright, so the car is Audi A6 C6 SALOON 3.0 TDI (ASB) made in July 2006 with MMI 2G High. I bought this car 5 months ago and everything related to MMI was working fine, only sometimes had problems with bluetooth connectivity - when on phone call, phone was loosing connection but after 20 or so seconds phone connects back by it self but I thought it's my iPhone 4 foult, as I red somewhere that iPhone and Audi bluetooth doesn't work great together but haven't got a chance to check it with other phone. CD player, DAB Radio, Navigation, Voice control was absolutely fine.

However, few days ago I came to my car, started engine and straight away spotted something wrong with my MMI. Whole interface is very slow, when music plays on Radio or CD or when listening to voice guidance on Navigation - sound plays for 30 seconds, then everything freezes and after 5 or so seconds comes back to normal, and then again the same thing round and around. Looks like component protection is active. Noticed that my phone is no longer connected to Audi bluetooth, tried other phones - no luck as well, no phones can see Audi bluetooth, on MMI says: Phone not connected or not attached properly.. Voice command doesn't work either - then button pressed on steering wheel, nothing happens, no sound, no nothing.

So, started to think how can I investigate all this issues.. When press SETUP+RETURN buttons on MMI, you can see modules installed on the system, so tried that and could not find phone module on the list (handyvorb, I think, is the name of interface of phone). Tried to reboot MMI with no luck. Tried to disconnect battery for 30 minutes, at the same time checked all the fuses an the car, no fuses was burned, connected battery back and no luck - still the same. Started to Google about similar issues, but not too much info found. So decided to purchase VCDS with interface. Got it delivered and started to play with it (not enough confident with it yet).

So here is the result of Autoscan:

There is the result of Optical Bus check (for some reason I could only do Standart check):

    Control Module Part Number: 4F0 910 468 A
    Component and/or Version: Gatew

    Optical Bus Diagnostic : Standard

    Controller Electrical Optical
    19-CAN Gateway OK OK
    47-Sound System OK OK
    37-Navigation OK OK

I have to mention that when I tried to connect to Module 77 (Phone module) I got message saying that there was no respond from the controller. The same happend when I tried to connect to Voice Command Module. I also have to mention that after the Optical Bus diagnostic, the whole MMI started to work flawlessly but Voice Command function still did't work and on MMI it said Phone not installed. After ignition off and on, the problem remains and the whole MMI is very slow and sound cuts off every 30 seconds again.

So, from what I checked, I suspect phone module faulty but I'm not too sure at all. That's why I'm posting all this stuff here. I hope someone can help me by giving some advice on what to follow to resolve this issue. I called few Audi dealers and asked about phone module for this car and the answer was that it's £300, it's part exchange and that this electronic part can not be returned. What's why purchasing new module should be my last step, before that I would like to make sure it's this module faulty.

    So someone please help me
    Only in AUDI I trust..

Take your phone BT module out of the MOST loop (underneath the carpet in the front pax footwell); you'll need an optical bridge (about £9 from the main dealer).
That'll show whether it's the BT module or not.
You may find that it's swimming in water; all covered in superb depth on this forum.
Good luck.... it's a well trodden path you're on by the sounds of it.
I got a replacement BT module off Ebay, a few weeks ago for £55 inc postage, so don't rush into getting fleeced.

    ps: Your sig..... seek help

I have searched forum much deeper today and looks like I'm not the only one who have/had this problem. However, had a look at floor carpet today and it looks all dry..
Played a bit more with VCDS today and ran Optical Bus Diagnostic 3dB Attenuation test:

    Monday,11,March,2013,17:54:18:10074
    VCDS Version: Release 10.6.4
    Control Module Part Number: 4F0 910 468 A
    Component and/or Version: Gateway H11 0070

Optical Bus Diagnostic : 3dB Attenuation

    Controller Electrical Optical
    19-CAN Gateway OK OK
    07-Control Head(High/D3) OK OK
    0E-Media Player 1 OK OK
    77-Telephone ERROR ERROR
    47-Sound System OK OK
    56-Radio OK OK
    37-Navigation OK OK
    0F-Digital Radio(DAB) OK OK

So, obviously looks like BT module faulty.. I'll go to Audi dealer to buy Optical Bridge and next step will be to remove Phone module.

Thank you guys for your support.

Hello guys, just to let you know that it is Bluetooth module fault. Finally, yesterday the weather was a bit better, so spent some time on the car and managed to remove this phone module. I had MOST Loop purchased already, so plugged it in and everything apart Bluetooth, off course, started to work normally again. Now I'm on the market for second hand module, as new one which is part exchange costs £301 from main dealer. So, once another module purchased, plugged in, coding done, I should be fine then.

Thanks for your replies once again.

Yep new module and coding and it will work as normal.

Can you provide the product code/part number of yours?

Yep, part number: 4E0 862 335. Funny thing is that I can't see any visual fault on it. There are no water signs under the carpet, the module it self looks perfect, I opened the module and can not see any burned components or what so ever.. I found one second hand for a reasonable price of approx. £90 inc. delivery costs from Poland, so my work colleague may get it for me..

Yeah, seen those on eBay. Crazy prices, isn't it.. As I said, brand new from main dealer is £301, so there is no point buying second hand for these prices. There must be some company which is fixing these modules. Audi is probably sending them somewhere to fix, cause they taking your old unit as part exchange...

Did the optical bridge sort the issue with the MMI and did the radio stop cutting out??

I think I have the same issue ( Infotainment MMI problems (after car wash?)). I can't work out if I have two issues (BT module dead plus CP somehow activated) or just one to do with the BT module...
