Hi everyone- I finally got round to doing the coolant flush on my A8 3.0 TDI (D3 2004).

Having drained the coolant from the 2 pipes under the engine and bleeding the system I noticed that while trying the car to warm up there was a fair amount of white smoke from the exhaust....is this normal or am I in serious trouble now?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi everyone,

Just in case anyone is following this thread the white smoke stopped after about 15 minutes of running the engine. Not sure what explanation there is for this but all is well in the end.

    thanks

Sounds like the white smoke every car pumps out of its exhaust when warming up.

Exhausts generate a bit of moisture.
During warm up, this evaporates and you also get unburned fuel in Open Loop (choke) engine settings.
Both together generate a white mist until the car thoroughly warms through - takes about 15 mins...

Though having said that, your 3.0 is a diesel right?
