I have experienced a yellow key symbol with a line through it being displayed in the centre of the dash. The words "Ignition Lock Failure" are displayed as well. The car starts okay.

I have taken it to the dealer the first time it occurred 3 weeks ago, but they could not find anything on their computer

I have since had it occur two more times, the last one this morning.

I am due to have the car serviced at the end of the month, and will have it checked out then, unless the car stops working beforehand

    Anyone seen this problem before?

I saw this once on my car - I ignored it and it has never come back since so not sure what the issue was.

My understanding is this is a common fault on A4 B8's. My ignition lock was replaced at 35k after the same warning lights started to appear....they have not returned since.

Put pressure on your dealer and get it fixed, they must be aware that it is a common issue...

Had the same issue along with a very lethargic release mechanism for a while. Audi Camberley were aware of it and swapped a switch or something a couple of weeks back. It should be on the diagnostics but anyway it is the ignition lock switch. Mine was on warranty, but unit price is approx £40 according to the invoice.

There's a TPI for this issue, get the ignition key holder replaced.

My light came on at 60k miles, key wouldn't stay in ignition at 62k miles had it replaced for £48. Two days later the light came back on!
    Can't be bothered going back.

When I picked up my A4 during last years snow I had this problem with the ignition lock warning coming up. I tracked it down to water being on the key when I put it into the lock. All I do now is make sure the key is dry and I have not had any issues since.

    Hope this helps

I'm impressed your start/stop is working at -13C, mine hasn't kicked in for a good few days now as the engine/ECU thinks it's too chilly outside.
