    Hi all

I've done a bit of research on this, so I know a problem exists, but I'm wondering if there is a cure - or whether I will have to put up with it!

Although we've had our 2007 A6 Avant for nearly 4 years now, I've only just taken permanent ownership of it (from my wife!)

I've never really been that bothered with linking my Samsung Galaxy S2 to it, as my wifes phone was always connected.

However now I've got it full-time, I've only just got around to plumbing it in to the bluetooth system.

Iniitally everything seemed ok, but then the phone would drop off mid-call, and the link to the phonebook and call registers didn't always work.

I read a few posts on here and got the full story so rang my Audi dealership who pointed me to the owners section on their website. It did state that most Samsung phones would have a problem, but didn't say whether there was a fix with updated software for the MMI 2G.

Can anyone tell me whether this problem can be solved? Seems a bum deal if Audi can't speak to the biggest phone manufacturer in the world!!

    Cheers

    Thanks guys.

Have sourced a set of 5570 disls on fleabay. Will get them.

According to the MMI I've got the following SW & HW versions:

    SW: C6-HU 51.5.0.0739
    HW: C6-HU 6350D2.0
    FC SW: 05071AFC6AB320060
FC PS: 0060 FC HW: H01

So I guess it looks like I'm running "5150".

Will let you know how it goes

If you have the attachment plate in your armrest you could also get an rsap adaptor for that phone (ebay germany being the best place price wise). Takes over the sim on the phone and routes it through the car aerial, boosting signal strength significantly and improving call quality too.

Be very careful with the update as it can go wrong, make sure battery is regulated or at full charge & some have the car running whilst its updating, as some systems do shutdown or send signals about that have been known to cause issues, so beware.

Hi UVB. Yes I do have the phone plate in the car but for convenience its much easier with Bluetooth. If I can update to 5750, and it cures the problem i'll be happy. The call quality when it does work is generally excellent. Thanks for the advice NHN. I had read about problems with voltage variations during the install. I will have the engine running. If I waste a bit of diesel but come out with a safe install that will be acceptable. I'll switch of the aircon and make sure the lights are off. Cheers

Ahh should have mentioned; the RSAP adaptor has its own bluetooth connection so no different in that respect. I was in Orford recently and had zero coverage while walking round but three bars as soon as I got back in the car. Here's one, although the last time I looked you could get them for about £60 from Ebay Germany:

Apologies if this has been covered to death before - what have people found with the Bluetooth updates? I bought the 5750 update discs for my 2005 A6, which came with dire warnings from the (well known) Ebay seller not to use disc 2 if you have Bluetooth as it can kill the Bluetooth module. I've updated discs 1 and 3 no problem (done whilst driving the car by the way). Bluetooth is working and connects to my works Blackberry, but no phone book visible on MMI. Have others had problems with their Bluetooth if they use Disc 2?

Just a brief synopsis of my experience with this. My 2006 Avant had a serious love hate relationship with my iphone 4. When it worked it was great but more often than not the second i answered the call it would drop the connection and was generally a complete nightmare. The phone would meltdown, as would the car, the caller would be deafened by static etc etc

I wimped out and did a deal with Hitchin Audi to update the MMI (decided i would have more chance of getting a new BT unit at a discount if it indeed had got 'fried' on their watch). They knew nothing of the update until i schooled them. They agreed an hours labour...it took three, i paid one hour (£65 + VAT) and they bought the discs

Alas it didnt solve the problem. I assumed it was the unit (although the rest of my MMI worked perfectly) and i reverted to the good old iphone headset wire thingy.

This was until 3 weeks ago when i ditched iphone and went for a Samsung Galaxy S4. I have now an absolutely perfect uninterrupted connection to the handsfree system and the thing is a joy to use. All the functions are there, it never drops and it makes me realize what a good system it is, even though its 7 years old!!

I would have the update done because it fixes a number of gremlins behind the scenes i believe. However it was actually a new phone that solved my issues.

    Hope that helps.

    Ross
