Finally writing my first post after many weeks of reading up on some excellent information posted here! As i have a few questions that can hopefully be answered.

I had been driving my 2012 A6 2.0Tdi S Line saloon (manual, brilliant black, heated seats, tinted windows, 20" alloys) for 12 months covering 10,000 miles when I was offered a deal from my local dealer on a number of A6's that had been ordered and built for a fleet company and now no longer required!! The list contained a few black editions with various added options at silly silly prices and I found myself unable to resist

I'm now the proud owner of a 2013 A6 Avant Black edition 2.0 TDi Multitronic, Daytona Grey, Tech Pack, heated F+R seats, 4way deluxe climate, park assist, power close boot, power fold mirrors and the best part was only waiting 5 days for it and saving £££££££££s

My couple of queries are?

1 - I don't seem to have the option of putting a SIM into the dash, is this not part of the Tech Pack?
2 - Does the WLAN work wit iPhones or does it require rSAP ?

In order to have the SIM slot and the ability to create a wifi lan you need Mobile Phone Prep High.

This was not part of the model year 13 tech pack, it is, however, part of the model year 14 tech pack. Sounds like yours is model year 13.

You need either a phone connected to the car in rsap mode or a sim card in the dash for the wlan to work. If you have this any wifi enabled device should be ok.

Your iPhone will not support rSAP and as you do not have the SIM card slot no wLAN option I am afraid. However in most cases the iPhone (some operators remove this option on some tariffs) you can turn the phone into a wifi hotspot, thus providing the same solution.

Find a friend with a Samsung Galaxy S3 and pair the two together, the car should offer to connect as Carphone (as opposed to Handsfree), the Carphone mode is an rSAP connection - if you only get the handsfree option then no rSAP in car - you might have to dig through all the menus to find the bluetooth connection profiles, but on the first try it should offer both - I forget!

No.

If the car has a SIM slot it has mobile prep high. If it doesn't have a SIM slot it doesn't.

But the Tech Pack offers the google maps etc which needs a 3G sim so must support rSAP even if I don't have the sim slot in the dash??? No?? Otherwise how else can I use the google maps function?

It's only recently that the tech pack includes mobile phone prep high. I had to specify mine otherwise it wouldn't have had it and mine was built in late April so it's a my2013 car. The my2014 which started being built in June will include mobile phone prep high as part of the tech pack.
