    Hi,

I hope someone can help me here. I have recently retrofitted the AMI into my 2007 A4. All went well, the AMI connects to the RNS E no problem and all is good with regards to playback etc. However, I have noticed that the AMI does not stop charging the iPod.
I connected the AMI to the RSN E +- supply. This is a constant supply irrespective of the ignition key, however I was under the impression that a CAN message would switch off the AMI as it does the RNS E after about 30 seconds of locking the car. It doesn’t appear to turn off. Has anyone experienced this behaviour? I wondered if the AMI could be coded to correct this but I can’t connect to the AMI with VCDS (don't understand why, something to do with a CAN gate).

Is there a way to make the AMI switch off, either via coding or via the RNS E?

    I take it you're using a mk2 RNSE?

Mine does stop charging after 10 or so minutes as when you unlock and open the door you can hear the phone vibrating as it begins to charge again.

Yes, mk2. Is your ami a retrofit or factory fit? I will give it a bit longer and see if it shuts down, I waited 5 mins and thought that would have been long enough. Something has flattened the car battery and I suspected it might be this.

I have a similar kit but for an A4. I tried leaving it for longer and AMI did shut down so thanks for that. I checked the battery voltage which was reading 9.5 volts so I guess it's just worn out after nearly 6 years

Both RNS and AMI begin with 8P0, just coded RNS to A4 and swapped faceplate

Ah as it uses the K-Line .. doh!

Well as long as its cutting power and showing/playing fine you've done a grand job

I had to get a new glovebox for the A3 as I didn't have a CD changer slot.

Yeah all good, was a bit expensive but the ami was worth it, had an AUX for a while but that wasn't ideal. They could have improved the search facility though. I had the changer slot but didn't use it, kept the changer in place as RNS works with both.
