Could you try with another iDevice?

My AMI in the A3 works perfectly with my iPhone 4S and my iPad2 funnily enough!

I don't think flash is right route, I'd wait for TurboHerbie to advise before doing any meddling ...

    I'd be of opinion i) AMI faulty ii) need a scan/diags ...

I remember on my AMI box there was a VAG picking label with date ... there is 5yrs between now and last FW update I wouldn't think older FW AMI's would be in supply chain ... that's why I think flash update don't apply ...

So my new 2005 A6 has the 6-CD changer and full colour MMI but I'm really missing the USB option. I had a Parrot MKi9200 kit in my last car that I just plugged a USB stick into the glovebox adapter and that had all my MP3s on it.

So what would I need to retrofit this and roughly how much am I looking at?

    Cheers!

You can do a straight swap for the cd changer, being 2005 you will probably need a mmi firmware update.

Around £300 will get you everything you need - Audi Music Interface New Genuine AMI Ipod Interface MP3 Complete Retro-Fit Kit | eBay

    Thanks again Chris

As I'd just swap out the changer, is what you linked to the same as this but without the cables:
