Hi all my first post. Just got myself this golf to run around in not paid much but my first golf and have to say very nice to drive its done a lot of miles 226k but engine looks clean infact its possible its not original engine, the body work is alittle tatty some rust patches should polish up quite well with a wash.

Its come with no history and the other day the aux belt snapped on me so was abit concerned about when timing belt was last done had a quick look under cover and the timing belt looks good actually clean no cracks or frays so may leave this.

Its an AGR engine looking on sticker am wanting to see if I can get abit more power out of it. What am thinking is.
    1. Blank/delete EGR up (may have already been done as I have had a quick look inside EGR and looks pretty clean no carbon built hardly at all)
    2. .216 injectors
    3. decat
    4. Remapped (someone at work is into diesel mapping has a laptop with lots of maps on said someone may be able to send me a nice map that he could upload (willing to send alittle donation)

Above should be able to see 120bhp?

    Any opinions welcome.

welcome. high mileage, not. just about run in. change the timing belt anyway, old ones look new until you remove them and bend them back on themselves and see the splits, not worth the risk.
don't know if yours can be mapped or you need a new chip though. mines had a chip as its non re writable.

Maps aren't generic they have to be tailored for the car. Guys that are "into" diesel mapping tend to make a good living at it Blanking the EGR and bigger injectors will help and a good remap should take you close to 150 brake

Well my mate has passed my map onto a rated mapper and said its already been mapped poorly done but not unsafe running around 105bhp. Can give me a better map smoother more power and torque see me about 125bhp with egr blank and a decat.
