    Hi,
A6 2.7 TDI Q 2006. Had traction light and 'ESP Fault' come up a few times intermittantly in quick succession followed by it becoming a permanent 'feature'. No other warning lights etc. Bit of a panic as MOT due in a month and have realised that this would now cause a fail.

VCDS scan is showing the following faults:
ddress 01: Engine Labels: Redir Fail!

From what I can find out, it would seem that the first fault listed is actually due to the second one. Can anyone confirm this theory?
If this is correct should I assume that the ESP sensor is faulty? I've read a variety of reports about where this sensor is located with the majority saying it is under the centre console somewhere.

Any one else had a similar problem, advice on where it actually is and how to get at it, part no/code, best place for replacement (dealers?), idea of costs (no doubt it's £££££)

    all assistance greatly received.

First fault is caused by the second.

Had a similar problem with my Jag which led to me cleaning and then replacing all sensors and wiring looms.

To no avail and eventually sent the ABS pump ECU to this guy:

    ECUSOLUTIONSWALES Contact Us

48hr turnaround and all now works as it should, cost was £99 plus £8 for a next day courier return.

Unsure if he repairs Audi units though and it may be cheaper if you have the part no to buy a new or used unit from dealer/ebay?

Hi G419 is located under the centre consul. The unit must be secure but not over-stressed on the mounting pionts (10NM), and handle it carefully.
J104 is the ABS hydraulic unit under the bonnet.
I would only pull any connectors to check once the Ignition is OFF and wait a minute or two, this will stop any further fault codes showing up while checking the systems.

Thanks for the advice and especially A6_Chris for the docs. Before I take the plunge and start ripping the car apart, has anyone else experienced this fault and successfully fixed it by swapping this sensor? Worried about it turning into one of those jobs where you go through a lot of pain and cost to swap one part only to find the fault was actually elsewhere....

Well, couldn't find a suitable 2nd hand sensor to try so had to go for a new one - ouch! Sensor was the bargain price of £540 plus vat and Auditechnik in Gloucester did the job in 1.5hours. Thoroughly recommend these chaps - helpful, friendly, and reasonably priced.
