Hi I have a 2002 polo Tdi and the abs lights are both on.

Firstly - I HAVE checked the fuses obove the battery and non are broken....

I plugged it into a mates snap-on diagnostic thing and it said that the fault was the ABS ECU isnt getting 12v, subsequent reading suggested there is a bit of a problem with the plugs with water ingress, so I have unplugged the ecu and checked the contacts were ok which they did appear to be.

    the ABS Module is a 6Q0 614 117 C.

I see on plenty of other forums, that sometimes there is a soldering fault in some of the ECU's that looks easy to check and fix IF you can get the ecu off the pump.

On mine I cannot see any screws that hold the module to the pump.

    so....

firstly can I remove the ecu on this module ?

if its donald-ducked - are any other modules compatable (cant find many 117C moduels for sale)

where would be the best place to get an exchange unit if I cant find a 2nd-hand one?

thanks for any help (im in Edinburgh if anyone has proper vag-com and is willing to plug it in to the car for me)

    ALex.

it might not be the ecu?
if you have 12v feed across the abs fuse on battery check to see if it gets it at the pump has ive had several fuse boxes go down they have feed across abs fuse on battery box and not out to pump the fuse box burns out

Just double check the fusible links on top of battery as it only needs a hairline crack to stop working.

remove the abs ecu plug and check the big red wires going to it to see if they have 12v
if they do then fuse box etc ok if not and you have 12v at fuse box then its the fuse box thats faulty
