    Hi,

Have been trying to figure out few things in my Audi A6 (58 Reg) but without the handbook it has been a bit of a struggle. Does anyone have a PDF version of the Owners Handbook/Manual as the person I bought it from had lost it.

    cheers
    Raj

eBay has loads for sale for very little £.

We can't distribute PDFs for copyright and permission issues.

What is it you're trying to figure out?

Yeah I have been thinking of getting it from eBay but I have to spend some time trying to find the right manual for the 2008 S-line edition. For starters the specific questions that I had are:
-Is there a way to find out what is the MMI version I have (just to know if it needs upgrading before I can install an AMI/Dension).
-In the satnav, is there any possibility to do Postcode search rather than City and Street name?
-I have paddle shift gears on the steering but how do I activate the paddle shift gear system. When I put the car on Drive and try any of the gear flaps it only flashes the head-light (is there something wrong?)
-Is it safe to change to the Sports mode (S) while in the driving mode (D) at any speed?

    - Do you know if your car is a facelift? Could you post a picture of the front of the car? If its facelift and because its S-Line you should have LED DRL lights. If we know the equipment fitted we can advise better on the retrofits. A picture of your MMI control panel would help too.

    - Yes - On the destination input screen, there should be something along the lines of Town/Zip (zip is the postcode) but the Audi system will only accept the 5 digits.

    - Make sure youre not pulling the indicator stalk, the paddles should be directly behind the volume and scroll buttons either side of the steering wheel.

    - Yes you can change into S at any speed.

-No its not the face lift model with LED lights those came on in the models delivered post October 2008 mine was registered in September. The centre console is with a coloured monitor (MMI 3g?) but I cannot figure out what is the software version and whether an upgrade is necessary. I can post a pic this evening.
    - In the destination input it only comes up as Town/City no Zip. Unless I am turning blind!
    - I am pretty sure I was using the paddle gears behind the steering wheel and not the indicator as my wife has a Honda CVT which also has similar gears but in that you need to press a button to activate the 'manual' mode and then you can use the paddle shifts. SO i assumed there must be something similar here.

Okay so more than likely you will have MMI 2G as your car is a pre-facelift.

If you press CAR then SETUP, then one of the inner keys (top right maybe) should be Settings, press this and scroll down to Version Information or similar - I can't remember off the top of my head, but as your car is late 2008, then you should have the latest 5570 which is OK for AMI.

On your NAV screen, there should be Country, Town/Zip, Street then the number, Special Destination and start route guidance.

Paddles - you can see them just poking out on the below picture. They have a - and + on them. These can be used in D and S and also if you move the gear selector across to the left when in D, they can be used here too.

    Thanks Chris

-I will try out the paddle shifts again this evening. I am pretty sure I was using the one you have pointed out. Should I expect anything displayed on the dashboard when I am using those?

    - And I know there is a completely separate thread for AMI related issues but just wanted to be sure if AMI/Dension are the only option to have an Aux in or bluetooth connection? Could there be any cheaper alternative?
I had been thinking if the cable going into the CD player could be fitted with some standard ISO adaptor and then replacing the CD player with a one which has bluetooth and Aux in connections. But I guess the optical cables would not be compatible with standard ISO players. Also, I am not sure if the steering controls (at least the volume control) would work or not.

You will see the gear indicator thing at the bottom of the DIS change from PRNDS to 123456

CD changer isn't ISO, nor is the whole car. You will need an XCARLINK, Dension or AMI as the A6 runs on the MOST system.

All of the above will work with the steering wheel controls.

    Thanks Chris
Xcarlink seems to be a good cheaper option compared to other two. I need to check this out.
I knew I would find help here.
