In America almost everyone south of the Mason Dixon line were practising racists until the 1970's. This isn't a sweeping generalization it's how things were and few people actively campaigned against it. I agree most people in the UK are reasonable rational people they're also free people. Free to think and read and decide stuff for themselves. Remember it wasn't just Germany that became fascist so did Italy and Spain. Spain remained a fascist state under Franco until 1975, living memory for most of us. Interestingly part of the cause of WW2 was the worlds reluctance to do anything when Japan colonised Manchuria. This sent a message to people like Hitler and Mussolini that there was no downside to invading entire countries. Add the great depression, German reparations and the German tendency to blame others like jews gypsies etc for their ills. Many Irish people went to fight in the Spanish civil war, some pro Franco and a few idealists against Franco fighting in the international brigades. A lot of the Irish fought side by side with British soldiers that had been enemies a few years earlier. Charlie Donnelly a poet from Tyrone, Northern Ireland was killed in the Spanish civil war. During a lull in the fighting he said "even the olives are bleeding"

I think this is why Kennedy got murdered in Dallas in 63, there's all sorts of motives but the one that sticks out for me is he let a black kid go to a certain college in the deep south 5 months before hand, rather than it be Oswald who wasn't exactly allowed to speak after his arrest I think it was a gang of rednecks who had it in their minds no blacks were going to get a leg up.


So working on that theory the investigation should look into who Oswald was hanging about with, this will probably be the shooter team and Oswald as he said the patsy to blame in the confusion.

I'm clearly wrong here, because nobody but me seems able or willing to accept that a terrorist organisation could be separate from the religion they CLAIM to be acting in the name of.

I'm not going to disagree on the ins & outs of WW2 as you & Doc are far more knowledgeable on it than I am and I'm happy to admit that. I do however find it hard to believe that the general public of any country would back a party that promised a holocaust or such atrocities. UKIP probably has it's share of loonies that come out with extreme right comments, but British voters wouldn't necessarily base their views on the party on those few looney comments.

I believe we have reached an impasse on the debate here. I believe terrorist organisations aren't representative of an entire religion with billions of followers, you guys think Islam teaches it's followers to kill all non-muslims. We'll never agree on that.

They did Brycie, but that's not the whole story, from 1918 Germany had been carved up, economically broken and the pubic humiliated whilst the Jewish seemed immune from it all (not true as the only Jew that is mentioned is always a rich one) I'm sure there were plenty of poor Jews around at the time as well, iirc some Jews backed the Nazi's anyway, and the Doc is right, it's all looking so familiar today but that's what happens when you back people into a corner and the rich are doing just that right now, Osbourne now is raising the pension age, he is the son of the uber wealthy, his dad is a Baron or an Earl iirc, they don't care about us, all they care is the swelling of their accounts, the pension was always a con, when it was invented 5% of men reached 65, that's 50 years of collecting for no outlay, now they can hit 80+ we're becoming a bad risk and the money isn't there to cover it,

I've a better idea, it'll never see the light though, I think wages should be increased to a very good level with a % going to a fund which will individually payout at 50 if you agree to retire,

This is the idea,

You earn well until 50 and be able to have bought a home by then,

You retire to allow young people an opportunity to work,

Once 50 you don't have the outgoings so don't need as much,

If you die before 50 your % is split between all other % as a top up to the living,

If you chose not to save or buy a home you go to a dorm house after 50, no free house, you get provided with a cell with 1 bed/lounge and a bathroom and kitchen and a front door only you lock or unlock, you will also be able to still work if you so desire, some people it's essential they do stay working for the good of the land,

Anyway that's me done now, sorry I did so many posts but as I'd finished I read another one that needed an answer.

I confess I'm considered right wing, Mrs Odd calls me a national socialist when I go off on a rant, she equates national socialism with Nazism as do most people. Like true communism national socialism has never been tried. In my opinion everyone must give to the state according to their ability (national service) but more than national service as not everyone can be in the forces. You must give and usually in giving you get, a trade, an education, a second chance etc. The disabled the old and the sick should be cared for and not made to feel they are a burden this is the extension of a national socialism I believe could work. If you're British buy British if your Irish buy Irish etc nation first IMO. Everyone gives and in time of need they can take without shame. Seems logical to me. I also believe there's a higher power I am an agnostic and cannot conceive what that power might be. Sponiza my favourite philosopher wrote a lot about cause and effect. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction therefore nothing happens in a vacuum. There cannot have been a big bang without a cause the universe isn't as random as it appears. Do we need music, art poetry to exist? No, but we need it to live. My point? Imagine if the universe and all it contains is a lunchtime experiment by a pointy headed "God" and it's all contained in his matchbox or test tube?

To add to Docs post, communism has never seen the light of a Russian day however much they bang on about it,

Communism is the way forward but only in it's pure form, it's pure form is nobody needs for anything, nobody gets richer than anybody else and nobody goes without, sadly it's been hidden away behind a corruption ring that works Capitalism for themselves and as little as possible for everyone else under the flag of Communism, this is why Waco etc happens, those people weren't kiddy fiddlers they were people who'd turned their backs on the modern world and wanted to try something else but the man didn't like the idea getting popular so labelled it a molesting cult but shut it down before it could speak to defend or deny,

Look at it logically, a community full of people who chose to be there then gets burned out and shot at by the good guys in the flak jackets, something ain't right, deep south again must be sommit in tha warder deyn tha boy!

Even if there was no religion at all people would still make something up or find a cause to kill each other,that`s human nature.The messangers the God sent always been hated,apressed etc. because the way the God says to live doesn`t please people in power,rich etc.As we know until the judgement day the devil has time to mislead people and the ones warship the devil get his help (sorcerers,witches whatever you call them).Most of you wouldn`t believe in being possessed and say no way or b.s but I know better as had a multiple personal experience.So there is The God and devil believe it or not but you choose to be good or bad regardless of your believes.As some of you know I`m muslim and in a mechanics trade running my business and if muslims are as bad as some say why would people who are none muslims travel from different towns (even as far as from Glasgow,460miles) to get their car fixed?As I said we choose to be good or bad,religionwise,just respect others believes and let The God to be The Judge.Unfortunately evil people can`t let that to happen.

There hasn't been a Nelson Mandela thread here yet (I'm not starting one either) but I have been active elsewhere in one, until I highlighted he wasn't what the general consensus says people were doing the usual respect rip thing, move forward a page after the eyes had been opened and luckily the eyes were eyes that were able to consider as well and it's gone from RIP NM to NM what a coont now they are aware of what this little old man who wouldn't harm a fly was really all about, we're all getting molded and shaped I'm afraid, history will be one of the biggest lies in 200 years time, they'll be reading about "great people" like GW Bush, Tony Blair, Maggie, Nelson, Stalin and Hitler and gobbling it all up as if the written word was gospel, maybe not Hilter but you get the drift.
