    Hi,
I'm thinking of remapping my VW Passat B6 1.9Tdi 105bhp. I've been looking at various sites for software to do the job but I'm not sure if a remap is available for my car. I can only find the following maps lsited below. Has anyone had an experience at remapping my car? I have all the essential equipment (KWP 2000 flasher kit) just not sure if I have the right upgrade.

    VW Passat 1.9 TDI VP37 Bosch EDC15V
    VW Passat 1.9 TDI VP37 Bosch EDC15VM
    VW Passat 1.9 TDI VP37 Bosch EDC15VM-1M
VW Passat 1.9 TDI PD Bosch EDC15P

This dosn't really answer your question but where did you get your KWP 2000 flashbooster from and where do you intend getting the maps from?

If it's fleaBay or similar then I would be very cautious. At sub £100 it should be ringin alarm bells. Could cause potential damage to your ECU.

Professionals use tools such as Byteshooter and Optican wich cost £2500 upwards.

The maps sold on eBay ('thousands of perfromance & OEM maps on CD') are generic and in some cases untested so should also be avoided.

Think the 77Kw 1.9TDI Passats were mainly Bosch EDC16?

My advice is steer Clear of KWP2000. Probably a dodgy cloned version if it's from ebay. ECU will be EDC16U1 or EDC16U34. Really not worth Wasting your time mate, had to repair loads of ECU's have tried to flash using this kit. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but it is very hit and miss. Optican, which is what I use starts at about £4-5k. We also have the full backing of Chipped UK and tons of liability insurance. You're best bet is to put your name down for the Remap day on the 16th at Chipped UK (Details in my signature). It's a fantastic deal at £250 with before and after runs, bearing in mind most places will charge £300 bare minimum for the EDC16 ecu and some charge a lot more.

Hope this has helped you, feel free to call me on 07756 190026 if you need anymore help.

    Thanks, Mark

The silver "KWP2000" unit being sold currently on ebay is of decent quality, not the usual rubbish you would expect. Careful of the maps supplied though! I would suggest reading your ECU and sending the image to someone to tune it for you. Then, remove your radiator fan fuse, put your battery on charge and flash the custom image.

Once done, remove the battery charger and the fuse and enjoy the (relatively) cheap power increase

(This isn't without a slight risk, but then again flashing any ecu with any equipment brings a risk) The difference is if YOU bodge it, YOU pay for the repair.

i've heard nothing good said of KWP, tbh, without insurance against damage, why would you risk it? a new ecu costs what nowadays?

tbh, if i had the choice, id cough up the extra £150 and get a proper remap with all the insurance and warranty you can shake a stick at

What Carl said, basically not worht the risk. Plus the EDC16 ECU is not on KWP2000.
