Was it not covered in the handover? It should have been Don't have an "idiots guide" but basically when you are in the destination screen the 2nd line down allows you to enter either a post code or a town (first line is country but that should default to UK). If you enter a 7 digit postcode then click OK to confirm) you then select "Centre" and "start navigation". If you enter a town then you enter a road name and then either a house number, an intersection with another road or centre.

If you are having trouble with it thenbest option is probably to get the dealer to take you through it as they should have done in the first place

Not just me then! See Sat Nav Help Required thread. They go through it on handover but pretty quickly, along with a number of other things, and to be honest you don't take everything in and in any case think that you will soon suss it out yourself with the aid of the handbook. After all how hard can it be to be able to use a sat nav particularly when you've already got one! Trouble is that it is not as logical as you'd think and as said the handbook is a little light on detail. John, did you have chance to check yours out to see if you have to click on Centre after entering the postcode?

Sorry forgot to look earlier but have just been out to have a look and it as you describe, using a postcode only gives you centre or locate on map. With street name you get the address. I am thinking, and remember those of us who had cars with MMI 2G or 3G only had 5 digit postcode so this is a big step forward, that they are assuming a postcode typically only covers a small area and therefore specifying a house number is unnecessary. Now I am wondering if TomTom that also uses TeleAtlas data allows this or not.

Congrats on the car gilbert and yes post some pics soon. Have yet to see a Garnet C7 with a beige interior...keen to see what it's like.

John, agree with you on the satnav though...like you having previously used the satnav in a C6, the C7's 7 digit postcode entry is a big improvement over the C6's 5 digit entry however I can't understand why the system stops at street number entry. After all, my 7 year old Tomtom One allows it!

    Hi all.
    Thanks for the replies.....
Yes, best get off to the Dealer I suppose.
The real problem is trying to store destinations for future use. I cannot see a way to do it..even my last car (XF) would let me do that ( after a fashion).

It can be done, am at work now so can't recall the exact process. See you are in Woking, was it a local dealer who supplied the car. I have always found Walton Audi very helpful in resolving issues and questions about the cars I have had from them (they have serviced my Audis since 1997 and I bought my last 2 from them). Hope you get it all sorted, as with all these types of things, once you realise its little foibles you will wonder why it was all sop difficult to start with!

I agree that the nav isn't quite as intuitive as one might expect, however, I do know how to store destinations.

If you switch to the input destination screen and press the top left button (around the wheel control) it will take you to the memory screen, where you can save the destination or select from previously stored ones.

    Gents, thanks for your info.
John, I got my car from Guildford Audi...very good and matched price that Broadspeed were offering. This is the second Audi I have bought from them and found them to be very good.
Allroad: I think I have tried this, but as you can see, I am not too sure....a trip to Guildford is looming.
Am trying to put pics of my garnet red on here...still trying...!!!!!
