Quick Question…. Is the Tiptronic gearbox in the 3.0tdi the same as the One in the S6?
The reason for my question is whether the box could handle tuning up the car to higher levels I.e. adding the 80lb of torque and 50 odd BHP or maybe even more?!?!

My neighbour has an 06 S6 and our boxes look the same outwardly.

As to handling the power it's quite common to remap these, I had a mild (?) remap which gives better economy and 15% increases in both, mid is 20% and full blown performance is 25% which would be pushing 290 ponies, methinks to use it fully you'd need a free flowing zaust and not have DPF (mine has the zaust and no DPF). So it's certainly tuneable and I think the box can take it...best of course if it's had regular fluid/filter changes.

Hi Mark, I was kind of thinking they are the same just looking for conformation, also am really looking at a re-map.... Any ideas to the 0-60 time or top speed change? Though to be honest what I really want is a large MPG increase while keeping current performance!!! yer right!!! That's what i'm telling the wife!!!!

    Iso

Well I was getting high 40's on long runs and then 53MPG after the remap, I went for an economy Alientech remap and managed 950 miles on a single tank...but was running on fumes when refilled. I cheated a bit as did 2 x 400 mile non-stop trips (Somerset to Edinburgh and back) at silly-o'clock in the morning when no traffic...bladder just about held!

Chip as reported previously I wasn't hanging about as got stopped by 'the boys in blue' 30 miles from home doing XXXMPH which resulted in my first ever points...6 of em. So yes there was one stop and natch I was driving well below the limit after it

From memory it said 64MPH for going up and 61 for back but that included at least 60 miles worth of average speed checks and roadworks (which seem to be popular Sat night/Sun morn) along with 20 off motorway. Don't think I used cruise excepting through ave speed areas and wanted to concentrate on not peeing myself!
