Alrighty peeps, I'm looking into changing my tyres soon as the ones I have are <not very nice>

Thought It was a good opportunity to change my alloys also as they need a refurb anyway.

Am looking at 19" and new tyre size will be 255/35/19. Don't want to "barry" up the car so really looking at something sensible.. Max budget around 1k including tyres....

    19" BBS CH's reps

    or

    19" RS6 Reps

Thought about LM's but don't fancy having to fork out on a refurb within a year due to lacquer peeling etc..
Would love OEM wheels, but they demand a premium do like Speedlines but go for around 1.5k with decent rubber etc..

Car in question is obviously my 'bus'

    Everyones help input appreciated!

I was looking for a set of alloys for winter tyres, and looked at several replicas at around the £400-600 mark. Most cheap alloys can be exactly that, cheap, and with dubious quality.
I ended up buying a set of genuine Audi Ronal 18" (the A4 S-Line 5 spoke alloys) off Ebay. They had seen better days with minor curb marks on all wheels and some bubbling around the centre bore. I paid just over £300 with delivery, and paid another £250 for a full strip, powder coat and respray. A genuine set of OEM alloys for £550! A bargain.

    Hey Aly,
my advice is not to go down the route of replicas mate, but each to their own

I've put a few options below, all for genuine alloys and mostly with tyres.

If you can get decent alloys at a good price, you could look at fitting the Barums as I and many others have done.....really good tyre and well pleased with them so far for around £600 the set of 4!!

Or, go down the route of alloys with tyres fitted - Don't forget to take into account selling your alloys & tyres on the Bay, you'll be good for around £200 I'd bet so can take that off the price you pay for the others.....
I've done it myself around 4 times now and works well.

nice rims, love them myself and look in decent condition with good tyres too?

These are my favourite, look to be in pretty good condition and genuine too, cherck details but should fit your car I think.
I reckon these will go for around £450 - £550 Aly
Add in a set of Barum Bravuris 2 for £600 gets you to about £1100
I could help you to refurb yours, or sell as is with tyres and I bet you'll get around £200 back from the Bay, meaning you'll be around the £1000 mark, maybe less!!

These don't look bad especially when you consider you'll be getting a full size spare too!

Nice alloys and tyres with decent tread, but ditchfinders.....unless you're just tootling around.

Don't forget Aly, even if you go for a set in good condition & with minor scuffs / scrapes ( that Need a refurb ) you and I could do this with a few tins of Wurth paint ( as used by Audi ) and achieve as good as result for around £50 instead of a £300 refurb, to get them as good as new.

It'll save you a bundle if you go down that route

See below......Its not the best write up but you get the idea...

How to refurb your own alloys

    Best

I'm sure an Audi A5 wheel comes with a different offset to a Audi A6? Worth looking into

Yes Chipsteruk.....I believe you're right, the hub dia may be different also I believe, but nothing a set of spigot rings won't cure

Offset is the important part though for sure.

Mind you Jim. I'd love to move my wheels out further towards the wheel arches not sure what offset would achieve this tho? Maybe some wheel spacers would do the trick if I knew which would work and which wouldn't.

    ET 20 > 35 for the A5 vs ET 35 > 45 for the A6

Centre bore is 66.6 for the A5 vs 57.1 for the A6

A smaller offset will push the wheels further out.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

If you do decide to go for wheel spacers at any time Chipsteruk, please make sure they're the hubcentric type and not just the plain flat washer type ( these are dangerous and can / will create wheel wobble as the wheel is only held on by the bolts )

Something like these, although 20mm may be too much?

Sorry for hijacking the thread Aly.......Looking forward to seeing what type of wheel you go for in the end.......so many choices and I'm sure you'll sweat every one to make sure you get the right ones for your car.
