So.... today is the day i was told to pop along to pick up my newly fixed golf from the garage i bought it from. I was so happy to get my car back seen as though it has spent the same amount of time in the garage as it has under my ownership. I managed to get about 1 mile out of the town where i could open it up a bit and noticed with my foot flat to the floor the car wouldnt rev over 3k in 2nd gear. At this point i thought the engine had gone into limp mode but i shifted to 3rd and had all the performance back for the rest of the gears including 1st gear.
Their seemed to be no turbo activity in second if i accelerate from under 2000 revs and the car finds it really hard to get over 3000 revs, if i changed from 1st gear at around 3500ish revs spooling the turbo i got boost in second and it runs like it should. Has anyone had any problem like this before as the mechanic also seemed pretty stumped? We put it on the diagnostic test and it showed no fault codes. The cars had a turbo re-furb along with new boost pipe and inter-cooler flexi pipes. Need help

it might be a faulty MAF sensor on it. possibly as a consequence of the turbo blowing up. When my MAF unit went it would not go over 2000 revs, then go nuts. wasnt getting the right amount fuel/air mixture. I changed it for a £30 used one off the bay and now works fine. Have you taken it to a VW indy in Teesside?

No, i took it straight back to the garage as they are paying for the work on the car. The mechanic mentioned his mate that works for a VW specialists and said he would give him a ring to see if it's something he knows anything about. I should hear back from him either tomorrow or Wednesday.

Makes me wonder why the garage did not road test the car given the problems. I always do this as he must have felt a proper charlie having a car brought straight back in for similar faults.
Glad its sorted tho and ur not out of pocket!
