    Hi,
Sat Nav question, is there any way to improve the routing? shortest route setting is not shortest route by a long way, (bad pun)and fastest ignores TMC messages. Dynamic routing is on. TMC does not pick up as much information as my stand alone Tom Tom.

    Which system is fitted?

My high nav is fine, although I'm not really bothered about the rerouting, is hat even possible on the 2G?

My local area doesn't have TMC but Belfast and the bigger towns/cities do but again, no difference in routing.

It's a 2g high i believe (colour screen, DVD in back) Dynamic routing has kicked in once, and avoided delays on the motorway. Most of the time it ignores traffic or does not pick it up. Put it on shortest route on the journey home from work, a trip i know to test it, and it tried to take me on a six mile detour from the direct route.

Latest (March 13) software? I ask because me getting home with 2012 software used to take me a weird route, now with 2013 (despite the new roads being there for over 4yrs) uses the shorter...most direct route.

Mine does work and alters routes due to traffic changes, the annoying thing is doesn't tell you when it does it, am sure that relies on TMC which has been said in a previous thread isn't always live (but is for me in the main)

Appreciate we live in the South West where they can't even do Fast Food fast

Try driving in London. I had no less than 9 re-routes last week going from Farringdon to Camden. You almost have to learn the route before going anywhere because when it re-routes and you're in the wrong lane, it can get really messy.

Like Mark though, the 13' does seem to be a bit better than the 12'

The issue is the inaccuracy of the road speed information in the mapping data. On my 09 A6 which had the 3G system, appreciate it is different to yours but I believe they both used the same basic mapping data from Navteq (Audi has recently switched to Tele Atlas for the C7 and other cars with those generations of navigation system). On a road near me the system refused to direct me down it, but if I drove down it it wiped over 5 minutes of the ETA. The reason was that the speed limit was incorrect for that bit of road on the Navteq database. If you go to the Navteq website (http://www.navteq.com) there is an option called Map Reporter and with this you can look at the data they hold on individual roads and report any errors. Would explain why those with more recent mapping data are perhaps seeing fewer errors

Not sure, how often do they release new disks? Was told it was a new one may be 12 if 13 only came out March. How much is a new (13) one?
