Hi, car is an 02 1.9tdi

Air con failed - and was diagnosed as holes in the condenser.
It was so expensive we didn't bother doing it,

Now with young kids in the car and any potential 'summer' heat need to get it done.

So far - I had the condenser replaced,
also a new conecting pipe ( as exisitng one sheared....)
and new pressure switch was also faulty.

Regassed.

Final hurdle - the compressor is now also found to be faulty.

The air con hadn't been used for over a year - so guess that may well have contributed to the compressor seizing up?

Can you re-condition compressors, their clutches?

Or is it just a case of biting the bullet, and getting an aftermarket compressor fitted ?( Audi OE was over £1k! )
Any suggestions for a source of an aftermarket one?

Do you 'absolutely' need to replace the drier unit when the compressor is replaced, or is that just good, but not essential, practice. ( only £35 at GFS so would probably do it anyway.

Last question - can you fit a compressor without then needing to re-gas?

THanks
T
