    What engine ?

If it is a 1.8t search for oil sludging / light and sort it quickly !

Could of course be a different engine and / or a faulty sensor.

The oil level is above the min mark i take it, well orange light is not as bad as a red light, it could be your oil level sender, has the message ever come up saying "oil sensor workshop"

thanks again for that - the only message that has showen so far is 'check oil level' which is odd since the oil level is correct according to the dip stick, Gremlins in the system I think
