    Hello everybody,

I have a problem I have not been able to solve yet, maybe you have a few ideas about it...

In 2009 I retrofitted MMI 3G on my 2006 Avant and everything worked perfectly besides the usual DTCs in the 5F main unit related to the SVM issue etc etc.

Last summer, before moving to the UK, I swapped my cluster for a highline one with mph and ACC (latest retrofit).

I removed the CP with AVDI and since then the DIS doesn't show neither media nor navi information

The steering wheel commands on the left are recognized by the system (checked with VCDS) but nothing happens, while the ones on the right are fine.
I can swap between digital tacho, ACC mode and board computers but nothing else appears.

Because of the way AVDI handles CP removal, I reflashed the cluster with my VAS5054a but that did not help. No DTCs are reported in neither the cluster nor the steering wheel module whatsoever.

After that, I updated the 3G to the 8R0906961CC but did not change the situation.

The only difference from before is that in the 5F Engineering Menu the cluster is not recognized; while with the old one the identification data
was fully shown and test mode was possible, now there is only a series of "Undefined"and no test is allowed.

There are some different DTCs in the 5F module I did not have before - which I will post later - but I am not sure they would depend on the telephone antenna connector that now is unplugged or on the cluster.

Has anybody ever had a similar problem?

You know who I would suggest and you have had a post or two with them on other places...

Perhaps a retrofit out fit can help you, only other way is to find a thread via google where related work has been done...

IIRC there may one will have a check & post/PM...

Sorry got no better thoughts at present...

    *** Update ***

I you sir! you must truly
car or doing retro fits ...
Considering the lack of responses to your posts on-line I truly
to how you have achieved them...

I read some of your posts and how you used translators, etc to overcome language barrier but even then things can get lost in translation...
Big & take my to you!

    Hi Gupster!

I did spend a long time on Goggle already, I couldn't find a similar problem.

I even asked Abrites support and they confirmed that I needed to reflash after removing CP with their software, but it occurred to me they were never clear which module!

Maybe not the cluster (easy job) but the gateway needed the reflash so I am looking into that now.

I have never done any of this stuff as my car has kept be busy with other things ... the retro fits I've done are so minor ...

AFAIK there are not many people on here which have done retro fitting to the degree you have done ...

You are already a member of a very good site which has good retro fit threads ... they are also there the people I would suggest ...

I think you will crack it!
    ... Attachment 20402 ...

Perhaps post the sections of fault log?

Your thread may attract another from the big WWW ...

    Hi again Gupster,

I will post the VCDS scan this evening.

I know who you are referring to but to be honest I never expect any input from them anymore, they never even bothered to reply PMs I sent asking for help with past issues...I have more trust and faith in other forum people

Clearly the issue lies in the way AVDI bypasses the module security to "virginize" the EEPROM and write the CP bytes into it by using the gateway...Unfortunately I have been banned from the AVDI forum for complaining about it!!!

Only thoughts for you to try...

Google Address 5F 03276 - Please Check Software Version Management

Once you are there, there is a calculator and a check that needs to be done and result used with calculator, enter answer where check was done...

This may help you get rid of above fault ...

01043 - Control Module; Incorrect Software Version

this is also there and calculator/check looks like fix for it ...

03157 - Functionality limited due to Communications Disruption

this is also there perhaps contact the poster of that log ...

Why are you getting this in 5F

    02095 - Component Protection Active

    Has AVDI not worked?

Google Address 5F 03254 - Address Incorrectly Occupied

This maybe related to CP if I'm understanding correctly the thread I read ... have read of it perhaps you will understand it better as are more submerged in MMI 3G...

@ the place where calculator is, post 41 stands out to me ...

I think module 17 is not the issue why DIS not functioning correctly... I think 5F at the route of your issue...

Over and out matey for tonight will check tomorrow if there is anything more ...

Thanks a bunch for the pointers...

Sorry did not explain myself...The 5F that was scanned is a spare one I put on to check whether the 3G headunit was the problem.

Tomorrow morning I will put the original 5F back on and rescan the car.
