Hi all, I've noticed a problem that when I drive with the windows open the cabin is filled with exhaust fumes and when I close the windows the fumes disappear and everything is fine. Exhaust has been checked and no leaks can be found, boot seal and carpet lining appear ok too so I'm a little confused as to what it could be.

Any help on this would greatly appreciated.

    Thanks. V

A guess would say a fuel leak and you are smelling the evaporated fuel, possible leak in the turbo hose, or you simply have the wind behind you and it pushes the exhaust back into the car.

Also lift the back seat and check if the lift pump cover is in place still, this is in an ideal location to allow fumes into the car if it's not sealed down as it should be.

I've checked everything said above and all appears ok. I'm taking it to a garage on Tuesday and hopefully they'll find the problem.

Hi all I have an update for you. The problem has been identified as a missing vent in the boot under the lining on the passenger side. This is letting fumes in, that and the boot lining will be replaced and the car will be good to go.
