VW MFD2 map DVD

Hi all, I recently purchased a used B6 Passat which has the MFD2 installed but it has no map disc sadly. I contacted the dealer the other day but they could'nt help me with supplying an upto date replacement disc. I am aware of the maps that can be used but require the system to be unlocked etc, those sadly haven't worked for me so I'm looking for an upto date orginal map DVD that will work with this unit. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated .

I would be trying eBay for discs - just search 'mfd2 dvd' etc

what do you mean by unlocked?

I have looked at ebay but the latest I can find is 2010 but I'd like newer ones if possible. VW say they don't sell them at all.

We don't condone using pirated software on the forum so I can't advise on that.

Have you tried eBay Germany?

I haven't tried ebay germany, I will look now. Who supplies the maps for the units?

No idea but I can only assume TeleAtlas or Navtec?

TeleAtlas (tomtom) appear to be the suppiler but their website is of no help at all. I've checked ebay Germany and there are maps on there which look current and are going for over 100 euro's however they look no different to the copy ones that are available which do not work. Seeing as the dealer cant help me im tempted to just sell the old unit and put something after market in it's place. I'm really disappointed that VW aren't able to help me with this.

Well suppose after time they will stop supporting certain systems as they become older.

You should put a nice RNS510 in there if you still need NAV.

Would that be a simple plug and play or would i need to change something?

More than likely a straight swap but you may have to update your CAN gateway which is simple too.
