Yes, it's a 95ltr tank in terms of "water capacity", so as you can only fill to 80% that's around 75ltr of useable fill. Much better than my old Beemer which took about 45ltr at most! No flashlube needed on the Audi, both my own installer and Hilton Autogas confirmed this. They've converted plenty of examples of this engine, presumably mostly in A8's. My installer was great - he really took time & trouble to get it right, checking with me at every stage, great service. If anyone else wants servicing or repairs (his main business is mobile servicing and repairs on LPG) then I'd heartily recommend him - Edward at Mobile Automotives and LPG . I think I'll leave the Audi as standard, I'm not too inclined to start making changes to exhausts etc. Thanks for the Sainsburys tip! If anyone is up & down the M6, then Hilton Autogas - just off J11 of the M6 / J1 of the M54 - are very cheap, I pay 61p a litre at the moment on a pre-pay account, it's 64p a litre if you just call in and pay on the spot.

Felt, all I'm saying is ensure that all of your consumable items are as new as possible, and in the unlikely event of your CAT failing you don't need to fit a replacement only a bypass pipe as your emissions on LPG without will be cleaner than on petrol with. I know some LPG owners that have their car remapped on gas and the power increases by over 30%...not done on my Jag, just stating what's possible

A-ha! Thanks Gupsterg - the infuriating "lack of new line" problem is sorted!

I couldn't work it out - both the home PC and the works laptop were doing the same thing.......

And thanks also for your "How-to's" on AMI and DAB radio retrofit, both done very recently on my Audi. I upgraded the MMI to version 5570, still haven't built up the courage to try Disc 2 after the warnings about it possibly killing the Bluetooth. I need to find someone Shropshire way at some point with VCDS to re-enable the battery meter, not that it's a great problem to be without it. The AMI and DAB worked fine without coding.

Thanks for the tip Mark re. the catalyst, if it ever should die that would certainly save a hell of a lot of cash! Actually I dread to think how much the Audi's exhaust system costs even without the cat, let's hope I never have to find out! Exhausts don't seem to rot these days like they did in days of old.

And finally apologies to Apole for hi-jacking his thread!

Felt, can agree with your exhaust comment, contacted 2 x national chains and they couldn't remember when they'd last had an Audi in for a system, one of them mentioned an 80 from the 80's!

As to LPG prices I had mine converted in 2006 and back then LPG was 32.9ppl down south and as low as 24.9ppl further north, at the time I remember unleaded was 88.9ppl. Now down here LPG is 78.9ppl (up 78%) and unleaded at cheapest £1.29 (up 31%) , so the 12ppl off voucher comes in useful, but still doesn't get near the price you pay for LPG

Hey been away but your conversion looks very neat.

Worth getting it checked over after about 1k miles both to ensure no leaks, and also to check the LPG ECU has no fault codes, and may need an adjustment. Had mine done recently after it being well overdue, good news no issues at all.

Running really well, no issues to report at all and with all the recent unexpected driving it's saving me a few pounds along the way.

As Mark says, LPG prices do vary both over time and location. Finding a big variety of prices from 66p a litre to nearly 90 in IOW !!

If you are not on it already, make use of FillLPG.co.uk - Your LPG Filling station map as this is a very good source for prices.

Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Thanks Andy. The install comes with a free service after 1k, to check the whole system over. It's running very well so far - couple of minor niggles, the changeover from Petrol to LPG causes a slight stutter, which my old 6-cylinder BMW with the same system didn't have. The installer warned me this might happen, and if it did he would slow down the changeover at 1st service, which is fair enough - the system switches over 2 cylinders at a time in sequence, the installer can slow this down or even make it change over 1 cylinder at a time to get a smooth transition.

My other niggle is that the fuel gauge is way out, which again the installer warned me might happen as the tank isn't using a BRC valve. Again this can be adjusted at the first service.

LPG prices vary massively. The cheapest place round here is Hilton Autogas at 61p, but if you're Midlands/South-West based then Countrywide Farmers are worth getting an account with.

Thanks for the FillLPG site, not come across that one. Have you got a copy of the Go Autogas atlas? It's very handy to keep in the car.

Oh yes, any LPG converted car should be registered here within a month of the conversion:

    In case anyone's interested.....

This is a conversion with a single opposed rail, which is what my installer was originally intending to use (picture from the LPG kit supplier):-

And this is what we ended up going for, 2 separate rails of 4 injectors:-

Glad we didn't go for the single rail - sounded good in theory, doesn't look so good in practice, the hoses from the injectors would have been much longer and it would have got in the way more when servicing.
