    Hello

On my 2008 A4 Avant I have the iPod connection in the glove box, using the proper iPod connection. Although when connected it doesn't charge is this correct, or am i missing something?

    Cheers
    Dave

Are you using a genuine AMI cable?

And which iPod are you using as some aren't compatible with incar systems.

    Hello Chris

As far as I am aware its the official ipod connection that Audi use. Its spec'd on specification I was given and looks exactually like the one in the manual. And I have also pulled the connection out and it looks like the wire is all included in the loom of the car. The ipod i am using a an ipod nano 16gb. the tall skinny one with the colour screen.

For some reason I thought we were in the B8 section talking about AMI.

So you have the built in iPod dock which you slide the iPod into, yes?

I think there were only a few select iPods which worked 100% correctly with this including charging so you may want to try another spare iPod.

I was in the B8 section until we realised I had a B7 lol..

I do indeed, its factory fit, nice and tidy in the glove box. I will get a picture tomorrow. I can try my girlfriends ipod and I will try my iphone as well.

    I'm thinking this below?

Try a different device, it may well start charging.

If you want a bit more freedom, get one of these extension leads - 30 Pin Dock Connector 1m Extension Data Cable Lead for iPod iPhone Black | eBay

    Hi Dave,

I had the same problem when I bought my MY2009 A3 with the Audi iPod connection option - I found this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and it's been working fine with an iPod Touch 3g for the last 4 months.

It does add a bit to the length of the connector, so you may need to check glovebox clearance, but it's under £13, and Amazon's return policy is first rate.

    Hope this helps,

    George

Chris - yeah that's the one. I have already purchased a cable which is much easier. I will let you know how I get on.

George - thanks for that I will see if any device charges from it then I will might have to make the same purchase.

Well I have been out with my girlfriends Ipod my ipod and my iphone and the only one that charges is the girlfriends, which she got in 2007. I guess my phone and ipod are too new. Looks like I will be making a purchase.
