As I understand it with mob prep low you have the ability to buy ( extra) a phone cradle. The mobile slots into this cradle where it is charged and has the possibility of using the car's external aerial to make / receive calls resulting in better quality calls.

Be aware you need the right cradle and the right phone. Not all phones can use the external aerial, I'm pretty sure Apple products can't, and there are not cradles for all phones.

    Talk to your salesman.

So, other than the external areal, everything else is the same? I can still control the phone via MMI etc.?

I need to qualify my answer by saying my car is on order so this is not first hand evidence, but I went through this stuff with my salesman and believe I have a good understanding.

My understanding is that, yes, without any of the phone options, low or high, the phone will connect via BT and you will be able to control it via MMI.

Yes that is the case plus it will also charge the phone. Audi only make cradles for a small subset of phones on the market and even when they make a cradle it is often a long time after the phone has been launched. The cradle for the iPhone 4 (an it only charges the phone and gives no arial connection) only came out about the same time as Apple launched the 4s and no cradle is yet available for the iPhone 5. Unless you know that there is a cradle available for the phone you have I would save yourself £175 + the cradle which is typically another £100 or so

That's a very short time from order to build, you are lucky! Make sure that you are getting DAB + any other changes for the new model year included as part of the deal as your build week is right on the point where the model year changes so it can be a bit of a lottery as to whether you get a car built to the old or new specification. Or make sure the price is adjusted accordingly.

Apart from the DAB does anyone know if there are any other specification differences?

Low mobile prep is throwing money away in my humble opinion. Standard Bluetooth functionality allows control of most phones via the steering wheel / MMI, and you can charge most via the AMI. If you don't have AMI and desperately need to charge then use the 12v socket. The only time I lose signal in my car is because the area has poor coverage and using the car aerial in these circumstances I imagine wouldn't make a blind bit of difference.
