I have the xenon headlights with the halogen drl bulbs, these are very yellow. Has anyone replaced with something whiter, either led or a brighter bulb? Need to get them changed as you can't turn them off!

Nope. Unique vw bulb (as with the DRL bulb on the mk6). Currently no aftermarket replacement available.

As it's got the bi-xenons which do main beam, might the DRLs just be bog standard P21W bulbs as on my older A6 which has a similar set up?

I know the halogen mk6 cars have the new fangled bulb that does DRL and main beam but the main bit is not required here.

Best to check by having a look - should be easy to tell if the bulb looks just like a brake light bulb.

In which case you could try a canbus friendly P21W LED bulb. Loads about. I tried but got jacked off with the errors and bulbs flickering randomly. I could have tried more but couldn't be bothered. Went back to halogens, albeit some brighter whiter ones.

Whilst it was working it looked good.

Thanks for your input I will take a look at the bulb and report back.

The DRL light on the MK7 Golf (for models with Bi Xenon but no LED DRL's) is a PW24W not a P21W (see below)

They're also used in BMWs so I'd imagine some LED examples might be found by googling........

Any chance of the same image/info on a normal non-xenon headlight?
