Mixing Tyres

Hi all, I have Kumho Ecta sport tyres on all 4 corners of my 2.0 Passat and one needs replacing. Is it ok to use any brand of tyre and leave the others the same, or should I be looking at keeping the same brand? Don't want to she'll out for 4 new tyres when only one needs replacing

Tyres, lights, brakes are things you can't save on.

If you really have to replace, at least do it in pairs (front axles / rear ) ... Don't need to replace all 4.

If you don't care about safety much, then don't bother ... get any tyre looking same pattern or likes.

These rubber things are the only contacts of your car, steering, braking etc.

What about your shoes? Others don't see any difference between £5 slippers and proper made for purpose shoes. Same goes for cars.

very nearly totalled a customers a3 the other week taking it for an mot. had to jump on the anchors fairly sharpish and the back end very unexpectedly stepped out to the right. upon closer inspection i found that side at the rear had an unusually named chinese tyre on it, and a korean tyre on the other side. the korean tyre was ok, offering some grip but the chinese tyre was downright dangerous. he did spin the car late last year just after having this tyre fitted when he had to brake and suprise suprise it stepped out on him and he did a 360 and face planted a ditch. a new bumper, rad and a few other bits and he was back on the road.
so, yes, a mix if tyres is fine, if you don't like staying on the road and find crashes fun.
get another kumho the same.

i may replace all 4 (or 2 at the very least) as I've had the Kumho's less than 2yrs and the front drivers side has a 3/4 'tear' on the inside of the tyre. Wouldn't mind if I was never out of the car but I do less than 6k a year. I'm hearing decent things about Barum Bravaium 2's

1 week ago, I changed rear tyres to Fulda SportControl | the Fulda SportControl reviewed and rated | the online tyre guide Did 4 wheel hunter alignment with print out to eliminate sawtooth** as well. Not sure if that's the problem you have with inner wall worn out but that was the case with mine.
235/45/17 costed me £82 per corner from camskill. Fulda Sport control design was based on previous year Good Year F1 asymmetric which is UHP tyre. They certainly are quiter (at 68db vs 71db barum bravuris vs 76db ecsta le sport ) than Dunlop Sport I have in front, but I won't go into discussions which tyres are better.

Are your Fulda's 94 or 97 for extra load?

94. They have rim protector too, which is a bonus IMO. I dont use my wagon as a van or tow anything so dont see any need for 97. I know for sure 97 XL versions are noisier and as quoted less grippy.

Yep...I can definitely recommend the Barum Bravuris 2 tyres. There is a thread on here somewhere which you might like to read. The tyres are owned by Continental but made I'm the Czech Republic. So far mine have been very good indeed in all conditions.
