Recently acquired a 2006 A6 S-line Avant 2.0 tdi (BLB Engine : ) Day after I bought it, it started to belch out black smoke & wouldn't pull. This was traced to a faulty EGR valve which the car dealer had replaced for me FOC, so no complaints there. Before I gave the car back to be repaired, I plugged in my OBDII Bluetooth reader that links to the "Torque" app on my phone and it told me that the throttle position was 95.3% open! I know that the reader / app work together because on my A6 C5 avant (which I have still to sell), it picks up the throttle position instantaneously when the throttle pedal is pressed. I assumed that this was to do with the EGR valve problem, however now that the EGR has been replaced it still reads the throttle as being nearly wide open! There are no fault codes logged in the ecu according to my phone app (which DID pick up the previous EGR faults as being logged). The car idles fine and has stopped smoking, but I notice that on moving up the gears, there is a slight (fractions of a second) dead spot before acceleration picks up in the newly selected higher gear. Would like to get this sorted before I have the engine remapped. I have a VCDS cable and licenced software but they are only compatible with the A6 C5 and not the newer car. Any suggestions / help would be much appreciated. I am based just outside Dunfermline. Cheers, Dozy.

if the throttle is open 95 % when idling, you would be going flat out everywhere, even whilst standing still. i would get it on vcds first before trying to fix a fault thats probably not there.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and get VCDS and a new lead. Cheers
