    Hi there,
Got to replace one of my engines on my bluemotion 2008 1.9 pd 58 plate passat which is a BLS model engine.
My question is are all BLS engines the same as I have been offered a tourag BLS 1.9 pd 105 bhp or a caddy 1.9 sdi BLS engine both written off and very low mileage.
Have checked on many forums and I think they will fit but would like a second opinion if this is possible.
I was thinking of getting a re-manufactured from ivor searle but none in stock and don't want to go down the refurbish line as basically they are just pressure washed and painted etc
Have checked on wikipedia and BLS codes are the same for above models but BLS: 06/05-11/08 for passat BLS: 06/05 touran just the dates are different.
Don't know what they mean 06/05 - 11/08 or is it the mounting times or dates??
    Any help welcome.
    Regards.

My A3 has a 1.9 TDi BLS engine.

I think the Co2 are different between the models - for example my BLS has a Co2 of 119g/km but another BLS on a year older A3 may have 138g/km.

Mine is £30 a year to tax.

Block maybe the same but I would check all the stuff fitted to it, I know when I lifted the hood on a Touran 2.0 PD it had slight differences to my 2.0 PD in the Sat, hth.

Got a BLS engine in the end from a Caddy which was written off with documented 10,500 miles on the clock for £1250 plus Vat...(not inc turbo)
We thought it would be a simple take out and drop in but again had A few issues as they had to strip it back to the block as most of the bits attached wasn't compatible.
Also bought the turbo from the caddy which are the same mechanically BUT..
There is a single sensor wire attached to the Passat turbo which is not on the Caddy so had to send it back for a refund.
Back to normal now but 2k lighter..
    Happy days..
