    Hi All

When I lock my 2000 Passat with the remote, sometimes the driver's door lock button goes down, appears to "bounce" a couple of times, then come back up again. Unlock, relock, unlock a few times, and it stays down.
If I lock it with the key, it goes down and stays down.

Anyone got any ideas where I should start looking and doing things?

    Thanks
    Gismo

Look for broken cables coming from the pillar through the rubber concertina to the door. It's a known reliability issue where the door loom cables become brittle and start to perform elecrically poorly.
I'm guessing that your buzzer for the lights-left-on when you open the door is intermittent too...

I had exactly this problem with my '98 passat estate, and I fixed the problem by identifying the broken cables and bridging the gaps with new cable and soldering. Of course the intelligent but more costly fix is a new door loom, but that may be unnecessary.

Another cause of this issue is dry solder joints in the door lock itself.
http://taligentx.com/passat/ is a useful site for some tips for fixing that.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look.
Can't say that I've noticed the "lights-on" buzzer being intermittent, but then again I don't think I've ever left the lights on...!
